I would say just keep at it like @catomd00: suggests. DS1 used to hate veggies in his toddler stages. He's now 4.5, and LOVES broccoli. I'm not kidding. I kept offering it to him, he kept refusing, then one day his teacher at school told me he gobbled down his broccoli. I started offering it daily, and he eats it like he does his carrots. Loves it. I'm starting to do peas now, and he's starting to take to them. Their tastebuds change as they get older. A friend who is a nutritionist told me that kids reject things over 20 times before they accept it as part of their diet and like it. So keep at it!

Just purée your own veggies or make green smoothies? We never did pouches, but I just offer veggies and accept she will eat them sometimes and not others and that she knows what her body needs. I hated veggies growing up, now I love them and I'm perfectly healthy.

@Alba4: Im all about calling spade a spade. As long as you recognize them for what they are (mostly expensive fruit puree) they are ok. I would rather give my kid one of these when we are out and about on the go versus gold fish or some other empty carb or fake sugar loaded snack. But I agree they really aren't substitutes for real vegetables.

@Alba4: Oh, I agree. They're insanely expensive for what they are, the packaging is wasteful, and like I say here, there're not as nutritious as we might like to tell ourselves. But my daughter is obsessed, and she loves the super green spinach kale pouches, so I buy into the joke :)

@petitenoisette: That's what I read too, so hiding veggies and all that, great, but at the end of the day they have to get used to veggies in their original form.

But with that said, I'm sure I was picky too when I was young but we all grow up and eat veggies to some degree so it's all good.... Right? Haha!

@Corduroy: Right? I never thought there was a lot of spinach in there, but 1 leaf?

I think the carrot, sweet potato ones are better since those vegetables are cheaper and sweeter.

Thanks for all the hints on where to buy Happy Baby pouches for cheaper, everyone!

@Dahlia: The companies are being more transparent recently after being called out by the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CPSI) in 2015 for deceptive marketing. CPSI sued Plum and the settlement detailing how Plum must label their ingredients on the front panel in order of predominance, is posted on-line. https://cspinet.org/sites/default/files/attachment/Final%20Executed%20Settlement%20Agreement%20102115.pdf

One spinach leaf sounds really bad though. As does the 1/2 spinach leaf in Gerber's Apples Blueberries & Spinach. Why not just reformulate your product at that point if you're going to count spinach in 1/2 leaves?

We've been pretty happy with the Happy Tots mixes with chia and what not. I realize it's probably half applesauce or whatever but I can't make green smoothies every single day. I just got a bunch of the Happy Baby clear pouches for $1 each and Target routinely has 20-30% off Cartwheels on them.

The gerber organic line has some ones that are just veggies. This one is an ok price and LO likes it:
https://www.amazon.com/Gerber-Organic-Pouches-Potato-Pumpkin/dp/B00HC76NRS/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1492131945&sr=8-1&keywords=gerber+organic+sweet+potato+squash+pumpkin

I had a lot more success on Amazon searching by "carrot pouch" or "sweet potato pouch" vs. veggie pouch.

Gahh pouches. I always sensed they had little if any veggies. I think they should all have to quantify exactly how much of what is in each.

Yea I've also read recently that the pouches do nothing to get kids used to the textures of vegetables which is what turns off most kids from veggies. Which is sort of obvious and I know the idea of the pouch is that at least they're getting something. My take is that I offer easy to serve regular veggies and my daughter doesn't eat them and she will survive on almost no veggies for now. Hopefully she will get less picky as she gets older.

@Dahlia: I'm not sure if it's much better but I buy the Veggie First baby food from Gerber and put them into reusable pouches. Not sure if they have a lot more veggies but you get 8oz for $1.30 around here. So, basically, 65 cents a pouch. They come in a few varieties.

On the dirty secrets thread, lots of us (including me!) posted that our kids' veggies come from pouches. So not to make everyone sad, but the new Gerber pouches specifically list how much of each ingredient is in them and there are basically no veggies. The pear spinach pouch has ONE spinach leaf in it (why do they even put that info?? it's not selling it!) and the apple blueberry spinach has something like 1/2 spinach leaf.

The only other company I know of that lists quantities is Happy Baby's clearly crafted pouches, and those have like 1 c of kale or 1/2 c spinach. I'm trying to make an effort to buy more of those, but they're much more expensive than the Gerber. I don't know about Plum or any of the other companies. I was so bummed when I figured out the Gerber ones are basically veggie-less!
