@ShootingStar: ooooh okay I see. Yeah my medela was ginormous so that's even smaller than what I had before.
I saw the Sarah bag I think on Amazon, it's $100 isn't it? Almost as much as the pump 😳 I may look around a bit more first.

Since this is my second baby, we're having to buy everything ourselves so it's going to take its toll a bit lol! we had donated nearly all my son's stuff to a family in need a couple years back. Although my pump wasn't a good one anyway.

@ShootingStar: I've seen a few say it's huge. The pictures don't look big? I had a medela in that huge tote bag when I had my first and I thought that ting was huge, this looks more compact. Downside is I'll have to find some sort of bag for it and all the pieces.
I also found some of the adaptor pieces that are inexpensive so I can use medela bottles and other medela pieces if need be

@MrsKoala: so awesome to hear a great review- tablet you! I'm glad you love it.

@ShootingStar: I stick with 50 generally. It's the one that both my breasts respond best to. It's weird but the lower cycles seem to only get milk from ny left and not the right.

@Mrs. Pen: I'm loving it so far. I've been able to pump more and for less time with it than with my Medela (15 mins vs 30-45 mins). I wish it were easier to buy spare parts like you can with the Medela but that's my only complaint so far. I also bought the adaptor so that I can use my Medela parts as well but haven't done that yet since I'm only pumping once a day to build a stash. It also takes some playing around to figure it the right settings for you but once you find it, it's good.

I have the Spectra and I like it, but I don't know that I love it. My first pump was a Freestyle so I already had extra parts and lots of pumping bottles for that, and they don't fit the Spectra parts. So first I hacked an adaptor myself, but then I found one by Maymom on amazon.

On the plus side, I like the actual pumping and the cycle/strength options better on the Spectra. It was also cheaper.

But I don't like how huge it is, how many parts it has, and how nothing is compatible with anything else, not even the pumping bottle neck size. Personally, I don't care if it's a closed system and actually I don't use any of the backflow stuff. So far I haven't had a problem with the tubing without it.

@futuremama: agree 100% with this assessment. It's fine, but has some annoying quirks. It's definitely better than the Ameda I had with my first. And I appreciate the closed system.

But I refuse to have feelings like love towards items like breast pumps, so, take my review with that in mind.

I have the S2, and I really like how quiet it is. I did buy the connector piece since I had the Pisa with #1. I don't find that I necessarily get any more milk with the Spectra, but it's definitely gentler. I also find the back flow adapters and connector piece kind of annoying. It's just more stuff to wash. Maybe the adapters are just something you have to accept with a closed system pump. I still use the Pisa at work and leave it there because the tote bag is convenient. The Spectra pump is so large that I had trouble finding a tote for it. I wanted something that I could keep my milk in without it falling over.

I think if it were my first pump, I'd be happy with it. I feel like I probably just should've gotten another PISA though

I'm also intrigued by the positive amazon reviews. And it's one of the only "hospital grade" pumps covered under my insurance. I'd love to hear from feedback!

I have this pump and LOVE it. It's the only one I've ever tried so I don't have anything to compare it to, but I think it's awesome. It's very quiet, easy to use and easy to clean. I love that it's a closed system so you never have anything in the tubes. I've been using it for about 4 months. I'm in a facebook moms group and about 3/4 of us have this pump, which is weird because I don't know anyone else in real life that has it.

@MrsKoala - same here - the quiet of the pump will be nice! I'm hoping I can take phone calls at work and not feel totally embarrassed. ;-)

@Pumpkin Pie - thanks for sharing that thread! I liked the Freestyle and was planning on "purchasing" (covered by insurance) one this time around. With my PISA I always got condensation in the tubes which lead to mold so then I would always carry around a can of compressed air to blow the tubes out - I never had this problem with the Freestyle. Can you move around with the Freestyle? Sure. Doing a lot of moving could be complicated though - like unloading the dishwasher or other @ home tasks. My main reason for wanting to try something different comes down to supply issues - and this pump is supposed to be a more efficient milker... ;-)

@LulaBee - that's good to hear!

I received the Spectra Dew250 after my S9 failed. I loved it at first because the suction was gentler than Medela, but just as effective! However, 6 months later and the suction seems to be diminishing (I'm getting half the amount of milk in the same amount of time), and I noticed there was some milk building up inside the connection point to the flange, which means mold is just around the corner. Yikes!

I had the Freestyle with my first kid and loved it. I've continued using it for my 2nd. If we decide to have a third, I'll definitely invest in another Medela or Freestyle, specifically, over the Spectra.

I'm thinking about the freestyle. Can you share your experience with it? It looks like I'll be able to move around with the freestyle, so considering it. What I didn't like a bout the PISA is that I had to be sitting at the same spot all the time since I didn't want to lug everything around to a different room.

I'm pregnant with my 3rd and researching pumps. For my first I had a Medela PISA, for my second a Medela Freestyle and this time around after doing (not a ton of) research. I'm going to try a Spectra S1 Pump. The reviews on amazon are pretty great and I have a friend who loves hers. So I'm going to give it a try.

I was surprised to not find too many posts on this pump on HB. Curious if anyone has one and their thoughts?
