I love cheap wine, my favorite is Barefood Moscato, it is sweet and refreshing. I also like James Arthur Edyn's Blush, Amo Te, & Edelweiss (it's locally made but I believe starting to be available all over US.) All are sweet and delicious!

@yoursilverlining: I'm with you. I can do sweet wine every now and then but never with food!

A light & crisp fruity sauv blanc is my fave.

If you don't like the moscato, don't be afraid to try other types of wine. I personally dislike sweet dessert wines, especially with food. You might find you like a non-sweet, but refreshing white, or a red; either a subtle one or a bold one. Wine tastings are great to get you started! :)

Thanks for all of the suggestions!

I think I'll try a Moscato first. I love bubbly drinks of any kind so I think it would be a good start. (:

I agree with the sav blanc recommendation and I also really like prosecco when i want something light and on the sweeter side. I'm more of a red fan myself, but whites always feel more summery to me.

I third a sauv blanc. You can mix it with some sparkling water and lemon to make it even more refreshing in the summer.

I am not a big red wine drinker...I only like certain kinds and then only one glass. I also don't like the teeth stains they leave behind.

If you like sweeter things (like blended drinks), definitely a late harvest riesling or a moscato. Also some of the pre-made sangrias are pretty good.

I second a sav blanc from the marlborough region of new zealand!

Also, i'll plug Australian wines! Most of the ones you can get cheaply in the supermarket (yellow tail, tyrells, penfolds etc) are quite nice. I love a chardonnay or a shiraz. Cabernet sauvignon tends to be a lighter red then a big, bold shiraz.

Lambrusco is what started me on wine. It has a little bubble to it and it's very tasty.

I like light, sweet, or fruity wines. I usually drink white. Only occasionally red.

My favorites lately have been and gerwurtztraminer and leibframilch. Also love lambrusco ( both white and red) and moscato.

My husband hates wine, but LOVED moscato and drank three glasses.

i loooove wine. bold reds like cabernets. i don't like fruity wines or chardonnays. in the summer i love a dry (but not too dry) sauvignon blanc.

a sweeter wine would probably be a better bet for you though if you aren't a big wine drinker. i second the riesling!

I am a big wine drinker, but I didn't used to be! The wine that got me started was Sauvignon blanc from new zealand. It's a white wine that is very light, fruity and crisp. I think whites are generally easier to drink if you don't like wine. The reason I mention new Zealand is that they have the perfect climate for growing this type of grape and the Sauvignon blancs from NZ are usually pretty consistent. You can find a very good bottle in the low teens dollar price range. Brands that like are Kim Crawford and Whitehall.

Try a Moscato d'Asti. It's sweet, bubbly and lighter than a regular moscato.

I just read Mrs. Bee's thread about wine and didn't want to thread-jack.

I don't usually drink wine. I'm not a beer drinker and every wine I've ever smelled or tasted has been just like beer. If we're drinking at home, I usually have something like Mike's Hard Cranberry Lemonade or a flavored Smirnoff Ice. Sometime's we'll make blended drinks.

Anyway, I'd really like to find a wine that I like and can enjoy occasionally (with dinner or just because). Recommendations, Please?
