I'm basically a food snob, with a few exceptions....like kraft macaroni and cheese ;) and I like Amy's brand frozen meals, so we always have a bunch of those in the freezer, but we try to keep those for "desperate" occasions! dh is even more of a snob than I am though, he has a food blog where he writes about what he cooks and reviews restaurants

@Foodnerd81: Haha yes this is totally how we are! Grass-fed beef burger with a side of hand-cut in the store fries? Sign me up! I love that there are a bunch of places around here that sell stuff like that. It's less about the food item itself and more about how it's made/the ingredients. A burger that's made out of ammonia and tastes like crap is just not worth it.

I definitely try to stay away from convenience foods, but I wouldn't call myself a good snob. I love good food and food that's bad for me!

@grizz: haha I'm the same!

We haven't had frozen boxed meals in our freezer since college. We don't make potato in a box, etc. Everything is pretty much cooked from scratch.

I'm not a food snob by that definition (I love some frozen stuff) but i'm incredibly picky, so I won't eat a lot of items and if I do I probably need it altered in some way..so I think i'm probably high maintenance in the food department lol

I got back and forth. I'll certainly eat frozen meals in a pinch-- but usually Trader Joe's or Amy's Organic more than Hungry Man or something (though, I'm also not above Lean Cuisine). I much prefer to make my own food but convenience things have a time and place.

The bigger thing for me is if something is really unhealthy, it had been be really good too. Like, a very good burger and fries? Totally worth it, but crappy fast food ones aren't worth the calories or the sluggish feeling.

However, I am a snob about pizza and bagels. If they aren't good, don't bother.

I was never a food snob (quite the opposite.. I was raised on frozen dinners) until I met DH. Then he introduced me to real cheese and it's been all downhill from there. Now I'm the biggest food snob I know! ETA just read the rest of your post and yes, I'll take greasy spoon diners any day (as will DH). I still sneak in some junk every once in a while, but it's the exception now!

If you are a food snob for your LO, are you a food snob for yourself?

I didn't realize it til I married DH but I am a total food snob about pre-packaged foods, frozen foods, that kind of stuff. I can't ever get over all the weird ingredients I can't pronounce, the sodium, and the fact that the convenience of them still doesn't make them taste good! MIL always thinks she's saving me from cooking by dropping off all these pre-packaged frozen convenience dinners or tv dinners... when in reality I put them in the deep freezer because I feel guilty throwing them away and end up cooking dinner anyway.

But I am totally NOT a food snob when it comes to what a restaurant looks like if I've heard its really good. I love dives, much to DH's dismay :)
