I had a crazy long labor but seriously as soon as I delivered DD I felt like I had just slept 12 hours and spent the day at the spa. I was up walking around not long after I got back to my room (delivered in the hall en route to the OR since the hospital is anti-vbac). So it took quite a while before I was ready to go to sleep, maybe 3-4 hours and then I of course jumped into the catnap with baby mode. lol

I was up all night with LO on my chest skin-to-skin. I loved it. But I didn't have a very long delivery, so I wasn't too tired and was sooooo pumped full of the really good birth hormones.

I dozed a little bit the first night/really early morning. Every time E made a sound in his sleep I was instantly alert, though. I got almost no sleep in the hospital.

I absolutely passed out whenever the baby was sleeping for 2 days. Then it was a while before I could sleep well. It was very nerve wracking once I took him home.

Yes for a little bit. It was around 3am by the time the room cleared and was cleaned...I think I slept from 4-6am.

Not really. I had DS at 3pm. We had a few hours to ourselves and then visitors started coming in around 6pm. By the time everyone left it was around 9pm? The adrenaline was starting to wear off and while I was sleepy, it was hard to sleep. If the baby wasn't crying then a nurse was coming in to check on one of us. Next time I am going to request they check on us at the same time as well as have any meds I need to take ready at that time. It was really tiring having someone come in almost every hour for one thing or another. Once we were home my mom was there and she was able to help out and take care of him so DH and I could get a few hours of much needed sleep.

Nope. The first night, I was up all night long. I couldn't believe that my husband and I had created such a beautiful little girl. All I wanted to do was look at her and hold her tiny little hand. I did put her in her bassinet, but I pulled it up next to my bed so I could stare at her through it. I might have slept a couple of hours the second night. I remember my OB waking me up at 7am and the first thing I thought of was, "let me look at my girl!!" :)

I slept a little bit. You can't really sleep anyway because you have to wake up every couple of hours to feed your LO.

I couldn't sleep at all. When we were getting out of the hospital we noticed on my chart the nurses had been keeping track of how few hours I slept with little asterisks etc around it... hah apparently they weren't too happy about that!

With both kids, it took about 3-ish hours to completely settle down from birth. The first hour is them cleaning you up/checking out the baby/etc... Then we had to change/feed/reswaddle for the first time, which took up like another hour. Then I would have to take care of my needs (bathroom, food, etc...), which took like another hour. So by the time we finally got settled, it was like midnight both times, and a lot of the adrenaline was starting to fade and I was able to rest.

Nope! I couldn't sleep for the life of me! I think I got maybe 2 hours of sleep the first 48 hours after Lo was born?
Was running on crazy baby adrenaline!

Spinoff of the shower thread.

Were you able to sleep/take a nap after you had your baby? I always have trouble sleeping before/after big events. I couldn't sleep at all on my wedding night, and I still have trouble sleeping on Christmas Eve and I'm 26! I'm worried that I'll be to amped/adrenalined/worried to be able to sleep even if I"m exhausted.
