I'm usually in the kitchen when he gets home for work, so he jsut comes in there so we can talk about our days. Now that I'm prego I'm usually resting on the couch so he comes and gives me a kiss to wake me up. Our dog does the greeting, she runs down to meet us at the steps and walks up with us.

Yep, we greet each other most days... sometimes we'll be upstairs or in another room so it takes a minute, but we always greet the other person coming in...

When I was growing up, I used to run out to greet my dad at his car (we lived in a townhome complex)... there was this one time that I ran out to greet my dad, he was helping someone in their car with "directions"... lo & behold, my dad was being heldup with a gun!!!! I will never forget what he looks like to this day... my dad gave him his wallet and he drove off... it was crazy. (sorry for the tangent @mr.bee)

Umm that would be a big fat no. I never know when my husband is coming home, it could literally be any time of the day or night depending on when he went to work. And he's straight up crazy if he thinks I'm getting out of bed at 3:00am to greet him at the door. Just not gonna happen. If he's home and rested when I get off he'll meet me at the door, especially if I have a lot to carry in.

@mrbee: That sounds very formal and old-fashioned, in an endearing way!

We never did this. My stepdad came home from work at a different time each day and sometimes he was already home when we got home.

Now, we have a small apartment so it's not hard to come greet one another. We get really excited to see each other anyway (vom, I know) so it's pretty natural for us.

I greet him at the door on the days that I'm not picking him up from work. I'm usually working in the kitchen when he comes home. The back door opens into the breakfast nook so there would be no way I could miss him.

Not usually, but the dogs always greet us at the door! Sometimes when my husband is late and I'm hungry and don't feel like cooking, I will wait for him with the dogs at the garage door so that the moment he comes inside I can pounce on him and say "Hey, take me out to dinner!" I might try that tonight...

We do greet each other at the door. He usually comes home after me, he will come up to me and give me a kiss....sometimes after greeting the dogs. :) I will do the same for him when I come home. If he's sitting, I just find him and peck him on the head.

No I just keep doing whatever I'm doing and say hi to him from whereever I am. He will usually say "where are they" referring to me and the baby and I'll be like "we are in here!" with a big smile on my face.
But sometimes he gets home first, so it depends

We carpool most days, so we get home at the same time. If we take seperate cars and I beat him home, usually I'm making dinner by the time he gets in. I'll usually tip our dogs off that 'daddy's here' if I see him pull in so they'll go sit in the window and watch him walk up our driveway.

No. I don't even know when he gets in the door. I am normally in the family room by the time he gets home and I can't hear what is going on by the front door from there. And the LO is always asleep so she can't greet him. But it will be a nice habit to form once she has a later bedtime.

When my dad came home, we would all greet him at the door. I would hang up his coat, and the other kids would put away his shoes and umbrella.

When I come home from work, the cat greets me. Or usually I've picked up Charlie from daycare, and when we get home he starts running around and the cat hides.

Do you greet your SO at the door when they arrive home (or vice versa)? Or if you both work, do you guys greet each other?
