Jews in the Torah did have piercings (golden calf was made from what? yes earrings and nose rings). My rabbi explained that it was a sign of servitude--if at the sabbatical year you still wanted to work for the same master and not be released, you would get a piercing.</p> <p>So... after that my mom said I could get my ears pierced. At age 25 I got my belly button pierced. I kept it in for 3-4 years then finally decided to get rid of it when the piercing kept getting caught on sweaters. I have 3 distinct marks - the outside pierced scar, the inner pierced scar, and my flat as a pancake belly button all in line with my linea nigra. =\ NOT very nice to look at!!!
