There is a gorgeous historic cemetery between our place and my office. Unfortunately, I live in one of the least bike-friendly cities in the country. Plus, when I was working, my office was 35 miles from my home in the suburbs and really only reachable by freeway. You would have to have a death wish to bike on Houston freeways in rush hour traffic. </p> <p>@tlcbaby: I stopped riding my bike outside when I was pregnant for the same reason. When he worked in an office that had a shower we used to commute to work all the time, but now that he has switched jobs I just can't do it. We usually walk along that path but I've been wanting to bike there since we moved-in 2 yrs ago. I even bought a cute little antique bike just for that purpose BUT I've yet to use it!</p> <p>At first it needed new tires since the bike was in storage for years and that took awhile before hubby managed to do it - it just fell low on the To Do List. But now that I'm pregnant and it's cold outside, I highly doubt I'll manage to use it before it warms up because I'll be too big by then.</p> <p>One day, I'll use it. I plan to use it in the spring and summer, mostly to bike around town with Charlie for funsies.</p> <p>I don't really plan to use it to commute into the city though. That's a bit too ambitious for me, although it'd be great for my health and fitness. We live in Brooklyn and I work in Times Square, and I don't think I'm up for biking across the Brooklyn Bridge. Maybe after Charlie and I bike around town a bunch this spring, I'll feel differently.</p> <p>Do you own and use a bike to get around? Do you use it mostly for fun, or do you commute to work too? </p>
