I can't just send them into the backyard and I don't want to get into the habit of having to rent a location, so my options are limited. We did, all of us, every year. Also the birthday girl or boy got to choose where family dinner was (within reason.) We will probably always continue that part of the tradition, as we did it for parents and grandparents too.</p> <p>And for our future LO's, yes, they'll get one every year. Though I do still have a problem spending lots on the parties when they are like 1,2,3 and won't remember. They had 3 chilren and could not afford for us to each of one yearly. I stopped having them rather young, but that was my decision.
