I don't see any problem with boys playing with "girl" toys and vice versa. I will probably buy a boy more boy toys and a girl more girl toys, though. I played with my brother's toys but always went back to my dolls for comfort.

I'm 100% sure my husband will be buying "boy toys" for my little girl. He can't wait to teach her how to catch lizzards, play sports with her, etc. And I think that's awesome.

We have a boy and a girl, so I just kinda figure that they'll play with each other's toys! Saves money, so I am all for it haha!

The Barbie thread got me thinking about this :)

Do you buy (or only play with) your child(ren) gender specific toys? Or do you let them pick and play with whatever they want?

When DS was in daycare, he had a baby doll that he would play with everyday. It never bothered me, and when DH and I went on our honeymoon, we bought him a baby Woody doll so he had one at the house.

He also found my Barbies from when I was little and plays with them. (Cutest thing, I walked into the living room at my parents house and my dad was on the floor playing Barbies with DS!) I don't see anything wrong with him playing with "girl" toys, and he loves his "boy" toys too.

When DD is born, I will not separate their toys. If DS wants to play with DD's toys, that is fine, and vice versa.

How do you feel about this?
