My mom has passed down some of my grandmother's (her mom's) jewelry, said she'll pass more down as we reach milestones such as giving birth to our kids, etc.

MIL hasn't passed down anything yet, but has gifted me generous things already. Not sure if she'll pass down things later on as she has a DIL also.

MIL passed down DH's grandmother's (her MIL)'s china. It's in our dining room as a display in the glass cabinet... and I plan on passing it down some day. :)

My Dad passed onto me his Mom's engagement and wedding rings. I wear them every day. :) Our families weren't big on jewelry or expensive trinkets, so we don't have a lot to pass down.

My mom has some jewelry that I'll get, eventually, but not a whole lot that I'll actually wear, so I am seriously considering having it melted down and working with an artist to make something I'd actually wear.

I doubt my MIL has anything, if she does, it will go to her daughters first, then her granddaughter.

Hubs' grandmother is planning on giving us some silver she has (serving dishes, etc) and Hubs' parents will give us their china at some point, as well as Hubs' dad's military uniforms, but nothing yet which is probably good as we have a fairly small apartment.

I got a beautiful rose gold pendant + chain from hubby's grandma. She didn't give it to *me* especially, she died before I met DH but she specifically had it handed down to his "future wife", as I'm the only daughter in law!

My family is all still too young to hand anything down, my great grandmothers are all still alive!

Most of the stuff I have inherited has been from my grandmother. She has told us she'd rather see us enjoy the stuff she'll be leaving us than wait until she dies to get it. My grandparents gave their four children and 2 grandchildren a piece of paper numbered 1-10 and told everyone to write down 10 things they wanted, in order of importance lol... She has also categorized her jewelry and let each female pick one or two things from each category so everyone gets something of equal importance. I'm excited to say that I'm going to inherit my grandma's engagement ring! I also have the first diamond my dad ever gave my mom.

My mom gave me my grandmother's engagement ring when I got engaged. I had the florist tie it into my bouquet. My step-grandmother "gave" us some beautiful glass pieces that my step-grandfather had collected over the years. I say "gave" because she has dementia, so really, her daughters divied it up among the grandkids. But I thought it was really sweet that they included me and my sister, even though we are step-family. And my husband's parents gave us a lovely mantle clock that used to belong to his grandparents.

She hasn't. She has 2 daughters and 3 DILs.. so not sure if she's going to pass anything down. MIL does send us lots of care packages though and they visit 4x a year.!

I have some jewelry from my mom but she is still holding out the good stuff from me. She has a ton of jewelry as that used to be my dad's business.

My MIL doesn't really have much ... she gave us some of her Xmas decorations last year. Oh! My mom did that, too. She gave me all the Xmas ornaments from my childhood so our tree feels really personal.

My mil gave me the ering she was wearing, originally her husband's grandmother's. It was so amazing and sweet that she did that, it was a great way to be welcomed to the family!

I'm hoping to get one of our parents china and silverware. I didn't register for any because I'd rather have family's.

My Grandma has given me a lot. When I got engaged she was always giving me stuff, she thinks married women should have nice things for their house I guess.

Not yet. But my MIL is always telling me how she will pass down her jewelry to me since she doesn't have any daughters and I'm the closest thing to a daughter to her. I love heirlooms. They're so special!
