Awkward! Originally I had given the bride the out so she didn't have to ask me. We were really good friends but my ex and her hubbie were best friends. So I graciously bowed out. Well she called me 3 weeks before the wedding because one of her bridesmaids was being a wench and they had a falling out. Well she asked me to stand in... There is no way I could say no to a crying bride... So I spent the whole day with my ex. It was awkward and we had to ride in the same vehicle after the ceremony.... It would not have been terrible if he had seen me, because we were young when we were together and it's been a really long time. This ex was one of two who REALLY broke my heart - like totally broke my heart in half. Our breakup wasn't bad or ugly, it was just sad. I hadn't seen him in years until the day of my friend's wedding and I was coming down the stairs of the venue to the foyer and he was walking through the door and it was sad/awkward. It was just a simple, "Oh, hi...How are you?"...I thought I could avoid him but he was the MC of the wedding and had to introduce me for a speech. And he was at the table next to me...SIGH.
