That sounds bad... but I just don't really have a lot to talk to my inlaws about. They don't like me very much, so until we have a LO and I have something aside from my own life to talk to them about (which they already judge enough without my telling them), I'm kind of glad I don't have to talk to them often. I think it's because my husband is horrible about answering his phone/calling or texting back though. He gets really busy at work and just completely forgets. They always know they'll get an answer if they go straight to me :) I do make an effort to keep in touch with them personally as well. Growing up we had caller id so we could tell who was calling and pretty much assume who they wanted to talk to. Dads parents were calling for dad, mom's mom called for her, etc. so I don't think there's much of a difference now with my on inlaws. My inlaws do call my phone a lot though because of my husband's crazy work/sleep schedule they never know if he's sleeping and don't want to wake him. They'll call me to see what he's doing first. Same with my parents...if my dad is calling to talk to my husband he'll still call me first. We usually take vacations with them a couple of times a year, too, so we've done plenty of bonding. My in-laws only call my husband, not me, and I never call them. When he's around me while talking to them, I might get on to say hi, but we usually talk to our families during our commutes, so it only happens once a month or so. We talk on the phone with my husband's parents on the weekends too, my husband just puts his iphone on speaker and we all listen in and comment. My dad recently pointed out that he feels like we (meaning all of us) miss out on building a relationship with our in-laws because my family calls me on my cell phone, and hubs's family calls him on his cell phone. I never really thought about it, but it's a good point. Growing up, I remember if I answered the phone when Grandpa called, I talked to him. Or if my dad answered when Aunt Em (my mom's sister-in-law) called, he talked to her. I think maybe our generation misses out on that a bit.
