In our new house the only spaces that will have carpet is the family room and hallway leading into bedrooms. My husband is in flooring so this is the best carpet that's out there right now! Super plush dense shag, in a charcoal gray. NOTHING stains this puppy, not bleach or red wine!

The rest of the house including bedrooms are laminate. Again new product on the market, the most expensive product out there right now actually but we got at the price of the cheapest laminate out there. hehehe. It's super thick, wide, 6' planks that are "hand scraped" to evoke hardwood. All the bedroom flooring is in and in the living spaces we went with a different laminate. Which just came in the other day. I freaking love it. Everything is a warm cherry tone. The living area has more of a rustic look to it which will go great against our simple, white, contemporary cabinets. We're going for a modern rustic/cottage feel.

No playroom :( but growing up my playroom had light carpet. My mom let us mess it up and didn't care about it. She had fun redoing the room when we grew up to make it hers and nice again.

Since our LO isn't here yet, we haven't actually started the playroom, but the room that I mentioned in the other thread that we're planning on using has commercial carpeting. So basically, you can do anything to it and you can't really hurt it. I'm not sure why my husband (who renovated the house before we were married) decided to use commercial carpeting in there, but it has worked out nicely and should be great for kids.

What type of flooring do you have in your playroom? All of our living areas (our family room and loft upstairs) have cream colored carpet in them that, if they get something on them, look horrible. Do you have carpet in your house and if so, did you cover it with something or do you have hardwoods/tile/laminate?
