II bought two nursing tanks at 38 weeks but didn't start wearing them until after baby was born.
my boobs are at least two sizes bigger now than they were at the end of my pregnancy.

I bought a couple of nursing tanks before the birth and then one nursing bra (cup and band size bigger than normal). I didn't go and actually get measured at a maternity store until LO was about 6w old and I knew I was going to continue nursing.

I never did. I'm 6 weeks post partum and was originally planning to buy a nursing bra after birth but then I never got around it. I skip a bra when possible and I took the underwire out of one of my bras and I wear that if I really need a bra

I bought just a sports-bra like nursing bra at target to get me through until after my milk came in. I went nursing bra shopping about a week after I got out of the hospital. I'm glad I waited as my boobs got huge. . And I actually went up anther size around.

I bought a size higher than I was, and I bought them before giving birth. But I ended up not being able to nurse, so I'm glad I didn't buy too many.

Thanks, ladies! I think I'll just head to Target and pick up some of the general sizing bras/tanks to tide me over and then invest in more after the baby arrives and my milk comes in.

I have been wearing Champion sports bras that have a narrow sholder strap and a breathable soft fabric. I'm only 22 weeks but have grown out of all my bras, these work for now and are great for the summer and are so much more comfortable! I do have one nursing bra, only beacuse back at 13 weeks, it was the only bra in the store that fit my large breasts (another reason I'm in sports bras now, nowhere to buy bras that fit!)

I waited a week for my milk to come in. DH measured me and I purchased the size that would fit my engorged chest. I am 5 months post partum and still wear these Bravado tanks all the time!

I bought one bravado bra, one Medela bra and one bravado tank when I was pregnant. They were all general s/m/l sizing so I wasn't worried about them not fitting when I started nursing. After LO was born I've bought a few more bras/tanks and everything fits fine...I didn't notice much change from my 3rd tri chest to my BFing chest :).

I love love LOVE the Bravado Stella & Emma styles at Target. I wore them through the end of my pregnancy and still wearing them for nursing now at 6 months PP. They come in S, M, L, XL, so that you don't have to constantly change cup sizes and are very supportive (like a sports bra fabric/build but with more give, same support).

I just bought some last week at around 38 weeks. I was told to hold off as long as possible or until baby drops. I couldnt imagine shopping for bras with a newborn so I wanted to get it done with. I went to a maternity shop and the sales lady was really helpful with sizing.

I was able to wait until after birth and my milk was fully in but it sounds like that may not be an option for you. It may be worth going to a specialty store and asking their advice.

I'm 31 weeks on Saturday and my boobs are popping out of my bras. I don't want to spend a ton of money since there's less than two months to go but I need something to help my girls out before birth :)

I guess I could let them be free for the next two months but that's not exactly an option for going out in public - lol!

At what point do you buy nursing bras/tanks? Before or after giving birth? How do I know what size to buy?
