I combine this with the Chase Freedom card (5% cash back on rotating categories like gas, grocery, etc.) and US Bank Cash+ card (5% cash back on 2 categories of your choice like restaurants, home improvement, etc.). Always at least 1% cash back on everything and 5% cash back on different categories each quarter. So right now it's 5% cash back on gas, theme parks and movies. October through December it's 5% cash back on Holiday shopping. You can use the cash back to pay off your bill or use it on Amazon.com or for an upped gift card to a ridiculous number of places (like you pay for a $25 gift card to Applebee's but get a $40 gift card).
