The biggest thing that our daughter needed was to understand the rules. While she is "spirited" she also is a people pleaser. She wants praise. We often go over the rules (You aren't allowed to climb on tables at school right? When you have a question at school do you raise your hand?). We also have told the teacher to be firm and feel free to set boundaries for her.

I have a spirited one as well :) We have discussed starting school early because we think the structure will do her well. We do know she's the "alpha" and wants to be in control, this is where she gets in trouble at daycare. She wants everyone/everything to be her way.

She will be fine. I honestly don't know a parent that doesn't think their child is difficult with hem and they all do just fine at school. It's amazing how much less they tantrum around other kids!

My LO is much younger than yours, but she is the same...very spirited, wants to do everything her own way, will freak out otherwise etc. but she's recently started going to nursery a couple of mornings a week and they say she's very easy going there, very happy etc. I agree with @hilsy85: they are probably way worse at home and more likely to conform for other people!

I also have a...spirited! LO, and from what I have heard from friends, they generally save their most challenging behaviors for home, and are fine at school :) Hoping that is the case, I guess, but also that some good behavior from school trickles down to home!

LO is starting school in a couple of weeks and I'm getting more nervous every day. She is VERY spirited, needs things a certain way and I'm worried she is going to be difficult at school. She gets upset easily when things aren't just right and then she is hard to understand because she is so upset. I know the teachers have experience with all types of behavior but I'm still worried how she will act there.

Does anyone have a spirited LO who goes to school or daycare? How do they do at school? Any tips? I'm really hoping she just acts this way for me and will go to school and be great!
