I've read that most of the time spit-up is just a small amount of actual food and that it's mostly mucus (lovely...). So it may seem like he spit up everything he just ate but in reality it's not much at all. I agree with pp...if he's gaining weight okay, it's normal!

Yep! Our daughter is still a massive spitter upper at almost 6 months. It never really seems to bother her though, and she has been gaining weight steadily, so why worry? One annoying thing is that she is sitting up and rolling onto her tummy these days, but both of these things (being upright and being on tummy time) really increase her spit up tendencies. I'm hoping that when we start doing solids next week things will start improving...

Like @artbee Sienna was a crazy actually is still a crazy spitter upper. Like huge amounts on the floor... but the pedi wasn't worried seeing she gained weight and is in the 80 percentile range. It did slow down with Mavrick when he started eating.

She was.... but she had reflux. She even had some projectile spit ups! But she always gained a good amount of weight so I never got too worried.

Ooooh, yeah our LO is a big spitter-upper. Some days it's not bad and other days it's non-stop. She doesn't appear to be in pain, nor does the spit up seem acid-y so it's just par for the course with her I think. I have sooooo many bibs and burp cloths because some days she could seriously go through 8+. We have her on pre-mixed formula which stains awful too when it is spit up, so I spray every stain with the Dreft Stain Remover. It is my life saver! I also put a burp cloth under her head on her changing table so I'm not constantly washing that cover too!

I know! I used to think the same thing too b/c it was my breast milk he was spitting up. All that hard work to up my supply came right out. My 3-year-old spit up a lot as a baby compared to his almost 6-month-old brother. I thought it was reflux or he was overeating but it wasn't and now I think it's more related to his allergies.

My LO also spit up a ton and we went through several bibs a day. I had to do laundry every other day to replenish our bibs! At around 4.5 months he just started spitting up less and now he hardly ever spits up at almost 7 months. He was always a happy spitter, and even though it looked like it was just pouring out, everyone told me that as long as he didn't look to be in pain then it wasn't a big deal.

Mine was for sure. But he was always smiling and happy so I knew it was no big deal. He stopped around 6 months when we started solids.

Mine was and still is a spitter at 5 months. My friend who had a spitter said hers is finally growing out of it at 8 months old! Never understood how he kept getting bigger while spitting up so much. I did find, just in the last month, that if I feed him more often, then there is less quantity in his tummy and the amount he spits up is much less. (Was at the point where my entire outfit could get SOAKED from a spitup).

My tip: muslin blankets (such as A +As soak up a load of spit-up and still look great and dry really fast....my baby was never without one, just for that reason.....way better than burp rags or bibs imo)

Was your baby a spitter upper??

DS didn't start spitting up until about a week ago (he is 3 weeks old). He burps great but now spews spit up 2-3 times after a feeding. Sometimes it freaks me out because it seems like he spits up everything he just took!
