@shopaholic: I don't burp Reagan really hard at night either. She seems to spit up less cause I think she is half asleep, so she isn't eating as fast. I just lightly burp for 5-10 mins and then just let her lay on my chest till I put her back down for the night.

DD use to spit up A LOT in her early weeks. I would always burp her even at night time and we put books underneath her crib mattress so her head is elevated when she sleeps. Now that she's a little older she spits up a lot less.

If she's happy she's probably fine. It always looks like a LOT more than it actually is. I second keeping her upright for a while after feeding.

@coacheswife123: Maybe I'll try that tonight!

@Smurfette: Yes, at night. I might try to burp her a little, but I read a lot of people don't burp at night? I just don't want to wake her up since all her night feedings are basically like dream feeds - she's drowsy before and falls asleep again. If she's not asleep, then I will burp and change her. I do the chest thing probably if she's awake too. Don't remember if I burped her or not before this incident.

Did you lay her down right after she eats? Try and keep her upright for 15-30 mins after she eats. We do that and she spits up then before we put her down. I just lay her on my chest in the middle of the night and she can sleep that way.

Hmmm. LO started spitting up at 6 weeks. He has reflux, though! We swaddle him but he sleeps on his side in the swaddle. I was worried about him getting on his back and choking so we roll an A&A blanket up and put it behind him ! He is 10 weeks now and rarely spits up now !

If you are worried just call ! Even if it is nothing, it will give you peace of mind!

K started spitting up milk in the past week. It's gotten more frequent and more in volume in the past couple of days (along with growth spurt & frequent feedings). I keep reading it's pretty normal and the pediatrician didn't really give me any answer or comment after I told him last week.

This morning when I went to pick her up out of the bassinet, I found that she had spit up A LOT. It was down the side of her neck, swaddled blanket was so wet, and there was a pretty big wet spot on the bassinet pad. I should be concerned right? She could choke or gag on it? I worry because she can't move when swaddled. Is this still under the realm of "normal" or should I call and see the pediatrician again?
