He did turn on her pretty fast. Even when I saw it the second time, I didn't see any foreshadowing. I agree that it is more true to life this way. I actually think it was more upsetting for adults. It's a good lesson that sometimes people who seem good are actually up to no good and if something seems to good to be true, it might not be. Then when she told him and he went in for the kiss I thought I really WAS wrong...and then, well, you guys know. Mind blown!</p> <p>ETA: I disagree with the posted article though about it being needlessly upsetting for kids. I don't know, maybe I'd say to my kids early on, "Ooh, I think he's going to end up being a bad guy," so that they wouldn't be so surprised if I thought they'd be upset. But I thought it was a completely appropriate lesson in the Disney universe where girls fall into guys laps and then proclaim that they'll be married the next day.
