2 spontaneous vaginal births with very different breastfeeding situations. With my first kid I had chronic low supply and thought it might be just the way my body works. In hindsight, not really, I just did a bunch of things wrong - trying to nurse on a schedule from very early on, supplementing the first night in the hospital, not eating enough, not realizing that his fussiness was hunger. I tried hard to avoid the same mistakes the second time and actually ended up with an oversupply. It's regulated itself by now, but I still leak enough milk to build up a small stash without pumping

I've had one very medicated labour that was augmented with pit due to failure to progress and one natural labour with only gas and although I had various issues with bf'ing, low supply wasn't one of them.

Interestingly enough, I have read that the same hormones and issues that "cause" infertility can interrupt the bf'ing process and it wouldn't surprise me if those same issues can mess with the birth process too (rather than it being the birth process that messes with nursing).

While being induced could cause a delay in milk coming in or cause short term low supply, I really don't think it can be held responsible for long term supply issues once the breasts are. Getting enough stimulation. Of course if babe has trouble feeding because they aren't "fully coked" or other issue it could play a role.

I had a spontaneous vaginal delivery at term and had low supply.

Induced with a vaginal birth, abundant supply. Spontaneous, natural waterbirth, no supply problems, but I would say that my milk is abundant this time. More like we're getting by, and we have bad days here and there. I mostly blame that on my being much more active and consuming less calories this time, though.

No inductions and spontaneous labor. I had an emergency c section due to pre-eclampsia. I had a lot of troubles during the c section and ended up taking about 2 weeks for my milk to come in. Once it came in I had enough milk for my twins except for one bottle of formula a day. I breastfed them until they were one.
My daughter was a scheduled c section and I had no supply issues. I breastfed her until 18 months

I had an induction turned c-section. It did take a long time for my milk to come in - 7 days. During that time we needed to supplement. My supply was fine for about 6-7 months until I had trouble finding time to pump and I got sick and needed decongestants to function. Then I pretty much let myself dry up. I wasn't up for the fight to keep pumping and trying to bring it back. Formula FTW.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: I agree. There's research that indicates timing more than the means of delivering. So, induction or spontaneous at 37 weeks could be problematic, but induction or spontaneous at 41 might mean milk/production is right on track.

I'm in the camp of underlying issues like genetics, stress, hormones being the main cause for most bf-Ing failure. Also, lip and tongue ties.

1st labor: INDUCTION. I had oversupply and overactive letdown. I had way too much milk and had hundreds of ounces pumped in freezer. However, it did take 5 days for my milk to come in.

2nd labor: SPONTANEOUS, no interventions. Low supply, unable to pump more than an ounce. I credit this to stress. I went back to work at 5 weeks and had a colicky baby. Milk came in on the 4th day.

3rd labor: SPONTANEOUS. Oversupply, able to pump successfully, working now on getting supply regulated so I am not making so much milk. Milk came in within 24 hours.

I do not think that being induced determines (or even has an effect) on how much milk you will make.
