@tysonja: She preferred a regular cup but for going out she'll handle a sippy cup. I got her one that has pooh bear on it and she really liked that.

@Mrs. Jacks: yay :)! i wish i was able to keep BF'ing him longer than I did, but my supply was challenging, and I'm preggers again. I hope that I can BF the next baby for much longer! my plan is to start pumping as SOON as he/she comes out. HAHA

@tysonja: I did! And my LO breastfed until she was 2! The only reason she weaned is because we had a new little one to attend to.

We did this for a little while around the same age. She preferred spoons to nursing even. It was kind of an annoying week but we started introducing sippy cups and regular cups and kept offering her bottle and nursing. She only took the bottle occasionally after that but went back to nursing and started using her sippy cup. Luckily for her the spoon thing was just a phase and helped her get excited about eating purees from a spoon.

@kiddosc: true! maybe i'll keep teaching him to drink from a regular cup and see if he gets better at it over time. thanks for the input!

@Mrs. Jacks: did you end up BF'ing until weaning time? i guess things will work itself out in the end :). i just can't picture spooning him milk when we are out and about -- which is often enough! haha... it makes such a mess! :)

We tried this with our bottle refuser, but it didn't work. We also tried a syringe, which also didn't work.

My Mom said she started all of us on with regular cups instead of sippy cups. That we weren't getting the concept of the sippy cup but would drink well from a regular cup. We were able to transition to sippys later. We were all weaned off the bottle by 1 year old.

If a regular cup is working, why can't that be a solution?

Hi bees! :) I just wanted to know if any of you have experienced this, and if so, what worked for you --- my formula fed 8 month old who previously was a champion eater (bottle) all of a sudden randomly decided to refuse the bottle. He also won't take a sippy or straw cup. I know this is rediculous, but the last 2 days I've been giving him his milk by letting him slowly drink from a regular cup and SPOON FEEDING. omg. so silly...!
i've actually gotten really fast at feeding him this way, it only takes about 7 minutes for him to 'drink' 7 oz, but seriously this can't be a real solution.

i don't think the bottle nipple is hurting him (teething maybe?) b/c he still loves taking a soother at naptime --
he is definitely hungry, so it's not just 'not being hungry'
he is taking solids just fine
no outward signs of teething at the moment.

should we keep pushing the bottle or sippy/straw cup and refuse to spoon feed him his milk? maybe he'll come 'round after a day or two :)

what do you guys think? :) thanks so much for reading!!
