@LindsayInNY: I bet everything is probably fine, but it's nice that you have an appointment coming up so that you can bring up any concerns this early! :)

@Adira: When I went for my annual last Wednesday, my doctor noticed it and said that brown meant old blood. She didn't seem concerned and said it didn't mean AF was coming or not (obviously now!). I have a blood work confirmation appointment on Thursday so if it continues, I'll let them know.

@LindsayInNY: It's definitely annoying! Have you talked to your OB about it at all? Not sure they would do anything this early, but when I had my spotting at 7 weeks, they had me come in so they could check that my cervix was still closed, did an ultrasound to look for any cause of bleeding, and because I have Rh-Negative blood, I had to get a Rhogam shot, but I doubt any of that was necessary since it was just old blood!

ETA: Actually, I probably had to do all that because around 6 weeks is when the baby and you start to share a blood supply, so that's probably why I had to do the Rhogam shot.

@Adira: That's basically what's been reassuring me - that it's been consistently brown and hasn't increased in quantity or color or anything. How annoying though!

@LindsayInNY: I spotted my entire first trimester. You may want to talk to your OB, but my guess is they won't have you make any changes. Sometimes OBs will put you on pelvic rest, no DTD.

@LindsayInNY: I think early spotting is very common, and some people spot for their entire pregnancy. Especially if it's brown, that's a good sign. I had some pretty unpleasant spotting right at 7 weeks which totally freaked me out, but it turned out to be nothing! If it becomes heavy or red, definitely give your OB a call just to make sure everything's okay!

This post was reassuring for me... I started having brown CM about a week ago, very sporadic. Then last Wednesday (9DPO) noticed more until today (14DPO). I got my BFP yesterday (13DPO). I'm hoping it stops soon but from others experiences, I guess it's not all that abnormal?

It's hard to relax. I've spotted through all of my pregnancies. Lots of things can make you spot, though. Bearing down, squatting, a large bowel movement. I don't have any betas to compare, but hopefully the ultrasound gives you some relief. I didn't fully relax until I was almost 4 months along, and then it was a giant weight off my shoulder.

I had some spotting early in my pregnancy, and it just turned out to be a bacteria infection. By the time the pap came back and they told me this, it was gone, even though they still prescribed me antibiotics.

@Mrs.Someone: I'm gonna talk to DH about it tonight. I have an 8 weeks ultrasound and my interview scheduled for 3 weeks with my midwife... I want to keep that u/s appt! LOL

@char54: This exactly!! I still remember when you got your bfp... Can't believe how far along you are!! Yay!!

@jennylynn: Thank you! I had normal 28 day periods prior to my m/c but they got crazy afterwards... around 31-36 days or so. It was seriously just a smear but enough to make my heart sink.

@Ash: I spotted on and off for a month in the first trimester. I am now 28 weeks pregnant and can feel my baby kicking around. I know nothing will fully put your mind at ease but know that it can all work out fine.

I am in the UK where medical care is pretty "hands off" no one would test/do anything for me as it was viewed as a forgone conclusion and that nothing could be done if I were loosing the baby. I am sorry you feel like no one is on your side.

I had the same kind of spotting you're describing pretty early on, and everything wound up being just fine. Before pregnancy did you have a pretty normal 28 day cycle? I've read that sometimes especially in early pregnancy, your body may still shed some old blood right around the time you would normally have your period.

I called the OB on call when I started spotting, and she told me to go home, put my feet up, and relax. And as long as it didn't get heavy or bright red then it was nothing to worry about. :) I know it's super scary, but try to remember it can happen in a completely normal and healthy pregnancy

@Ash: I'm the same way - "Once I hear the heartbeat, I'll be fine." "once I hit 12 weeks, I'll be fine." "Once I have an ultrasound, I'll be fine." Poor DH is going crazy :) I've met all those milestones and while I still don't feel completely 'fine' - I'm at least not worrying as much anymore.

Lots of good thoughts for you! I'm sure it's all normal. :)

@char54: I keep saying "once this happens, I'll be okay." but we all know I'll come up with something new after that. I had brown goopy discharge for a few days before my bfp (the one that resulted in m/c) but I don't know if it was implantation or the start of bad things.

@Mrs.Someone: Yes ma'am I do. DH agrees. There just aren't a lot of options around here. There is another midwife and 6 docs in the same practice or the other practice is just docs. I just really want a midwife birth... Can't have everything though! No, I didn't! Nobody will check it. Even the NP in the er refused. *sigh*

i spotted from week 4-8. it was all sorts of colors from light brown to dark brown, light pink to dark red. LO is 4 months old now. i never found out exactly why i was spotting. my dr said it mightve been just implantation bleeding. i remember how nerve wracking it was though during that time and i hope everything turns out well for you!

I had brown-tinged cm/brown spotting at 4 weeks and again at 5 weeks. I think by 6-7 weeks it stopped completely. I freaked out and called the doctor and he said it was completely normal. He just said not to have sex as long as I was spotting. I went in at 8w and saw the heartbeat and now I am almost 20w with our little girl! I am thinking of you!!
