@Newbee: Welcome to HB  I have endo which was diagnosed with a lap in January 2013. I would suggest you see about getting a referral to an RE especially since you are spotting almost continuously throughout your cycle. If you are going to start having tests with the OBGYN I would just move to the RE since they will likely want to re-do them all anyway plus they will test your SO as well just to see if there are any other issues at play.

The RE's job is to get you pregnant while an OBGYN is really there for pre and post natal care.

ETA: I would ask your OBGYN for a referral, they really cannot refuse you.

Thanks for your response LazB (you responded to an earlier post of mine, too, which led me to get checked out for endo =) )

It sounds like you have a good ob since she addressed that something was wrong.

The other weird thing is that my ob doesn't believe in meds helping me. She never mentioned clomid and she said the progesterone was only to help with my spotting (which it clearly is not helping anyway), so I am not sure if I should leave the infertility plan up to her...let alone the lap surgery... or if I should seek a consultation from a RE without a referral.

I have never heard of spotting before O, so can't help you there, but I would definitely want to explore options sooner rather than later.
My OB did my lap, but she specializes in surgery, so I felt comfortable with that. Also, we TTC 7 months before my lap. Since it was suspected something wasn't right, she didn't make me wait a really long time before exploring other options. It turned out I had stage IV endometriosis, and there was no way I could have gotten pregnant if I hadn't had the lap. I also ended up needing Clomid to lengthen my luteal phase, but if we had tried that a couple of months without success, she would have wanted me to go to an RE. Luckily Clomid worked for me on the first cycle both times, though, so I never had to see a specialist.

Hello!

I guess I am posting to just lift my spirit. I usually spot about 7 days before my period starts and I spot all the way to ovulation after my period ends. There is literally only about 1 week of my cycle (after ovulation) that I am not spotting.

My ob/gyn said that there is high clinical suspicion of endometriosis (because I have UTI-like symptoms and rectal pain during my period), but that it can only be diagnosed via laparoscopy which she wants to hold off on until about Dec/Jan. During my last visit, her plan of action was to:

1. Prescribe me prometrium 200 mg orally once a day to help with the spotting (she said she doesn't believe that it helps with implantation and doesn't do progesterone blood work)
2. Get day 3 blood work done if I get my period this cycle, which I am 99% sure I am
3. Get an HSG done in November if I'm still not pregnant then
4. Lap procedure in the winter

My concern is that even though I took prometrium orally this cycle, I started spotting at 6 dpo! That's the earliest I have ever spotted. It's sticky in texture with a tint of brown that has been getting a tad darker each day (that's how I am usually sure it's AF and not implantation bleeding). Also, my temps have been flat-lining in this cycle's luteal phase at 97.7 F. Usually I'll get some variation between 97.7 and 98.1. Although I know my ob/gyn has a plan in place, I guess I just wish we could get pregnant sooner since I would be 32 when she wants to do a lap.

At what point did you see a reproductive endocrinologist? Did you get a referral? (we have been ttc-ing for 6 months, but mainly worried b/c of my endo symptoms and spotting for 3/4 of the month)

Who did your lap? Did a fertility specialist do it or your regular ob/gyn? It sounded like my regular ob/gyn would be doing it, which I guess is normal?
