Awesome news! I have had friends experience lots of spotting and bleeding during pregnancy. Very scary, but can definitely be harmless. I'm so glad everything seems to be ok w/ your pregnancy!!

Just wanted to add an update to this post for anyone who might search this topic and need encouragement.

The spotting lasted for almost a full 3 weeks. During that time I had two ultrasounds, at 6w4d and 7w3d. Heartbeat was visible at both and the doctor was happy with everything. On the first u/s, the doctor saw some blood pooling near the gestational sac that she attributed to sensitive blood vessels where everything was attached and forming. She thought it looked completely harmless and unrelated to health of the baby. On the second u/s the blood was cleared up but still took another week for the brown spotting to stop. Hopefully this will help ease the mind of anyone experiencing something similar! :)

@runnerd: Remember a lot of time, even in healthy pregnancies, there is no reason why there is spotting.

If you are really a mess, I would call and ask for another set of HCG pulls and a progest. test. Stress isn't good and if that helps ease your mind, it should be relatively easy for them to order.

OMG I'm a Mom had a stressful pregnancy and actually saw a specialist because she was such a ball of nerves. You might still be able to find some of her archive posts.

I know what this is like. I spotted for 2 straight weeks until I was almost 8 weeks along. I cried every day waiting for it to stop. They didn't take any hcg, just weekly ultrasounds until it finally stopped. The worst episode was right before my 7-week ultrasound when I started bleeding bright red blood into the toilet at the doctors office, through my underwear - but the baby was there and growing. And we have our 2-day-old son home with us today. Spotting could mean a million things, not all if them bad. My midwife would say, pregnancy is just a bloody business. Hang in there *hugs*

@runnerd: I think you should call your doc and get them to run the tests (at least progesterone since it hasn't been checked yet), knowing what is going on will make you feel better. If they hesitate, let them know how you're feeling. I remember being in the "limbo" period and all I could do was sit around and cry not knowing if I was pregnant or not. Once I got the answer, I was able to grieve and move on. Of course I think your answer is going to be a happy one though, considering how great your HCG levels are.

Also, if your boss is a supportive person, I'd tell her whats going on. Otherwise, can you take a few sick days?

I'll be thinking of you and hoping all turns out well!

I'm tempted to call and see if they will take my blood again before Friday to see if things are still progressing well. I'm just really a wreck today.

Your numbers are great, don't give up hope! I agree with someone earlier, have you gotten your progesterone checked? If its low, it is super easy to fix. Also, if you've had HCG checked recently (in the last week), they can probably just call the lab and check the sample again.

@runnerd: I had a similar situation with this pregnancy. I started spotting at 8 DPO and got my BFP at 10DPO. I continued spotting on and off until almost 7 weeks. It was usually only there when I wiped. My HCG levels were rising fine. I had an u/s at 7 weeks and everything looked fine. I am now almost 13 weeks and things continue to look good. I just want you to know that there have been many successful pregnancies with spotting. Your HCG numbers are great. I wish you all the best.

@runnerd: my story was a lot like yours. I started spotting the day after I got my bfp and it continued for about Most of the first tri. Sometimes it was brown, other times pink, sometimes light or sometimes heavier. I was such a wreck. I had to get my hcg levels checked regularly and they were rising, like yours, so the ob told me not to give up hope.

I have an 11 month old daughter now. They never could figure out the cause of the spotting. Best of luck to you and pls don't give up hope - as long as your numbers are rising, there's hope!!

I really hope everything is okay and I unfortuantely I don't know much about this, but reading your post reminds me of stories I heard from preggo's who had their 'period' regularly througout their pregnancies. I remember my HS friend got pregnant and had a 'period' every month like clockwork. Never got an explanation why and everything you read online says it's impossible, but I've heard of it happening to other women too!
