I should have mentioned that I have called my doctor about this, and since my progesterone levels were normal, she wasn't worried about it. If it happens again next month, I will definitely insist on being seen.
@Pepper: good to know I'm not the only one! I will also talk to my doctor about doing suppositories. I had asked her about them a while ago (not for spotting, but just to extend my luteal phase), but she said that she has had the same results using the oral kind, so I stuck with that.
@LindsayInNY: I agree, this can't be normal!
@MrsMccarthy: I do have endometriosis (stage IV), and I'm really hoping that's not the problem. I had a lap last January, got pregnant last may, and have only had two cycles post baby, so it would really suck if my endo had come back so fast and furious.

Oh and other causes worth noting and talking to a doctor about are uterine fibroids, endometriosis or enlarged uterus.

Obviously you should talk to a doctor about this but I've read that with LPD and spotting sometimes when it's not an issue with progesterone it can be an ovulation issue. Clomid pr HCG can be used to help you ovulate stronger but clomid isn't supposed to be right for everyone. I know spaniellove has some experience in this area. I'm sure you know about these but B6 and vitex are also used for LPDs. Wishing you luck and hoping its resolved an you are pregnant soon.

@LAZB: I had this same thing. Progesterone was normal, but I had a luteal phase defect that was causing spotting. Progesterone suppositories stopped the early spotting (but they did cause spotting on their own because they annoyed my cervix).

I haven't had it happen to me, but I've heard that progesterone suppositories are absorbed by your body more effectively. Maybe talk to your doctor about switching to a suppository?

I have a similar situation but my spotting doesn't usually start until 8-9DPO. Progesterone suppositories are the only thing that prevents it from happening. Progesterone levels were normal too. My RE said not to be concerned but really? It can't be normal though?

I have no advise... but is it oral progesterone? If it's the other kind, I've heard it can irritate things down there.

Just like the title says, I have been spotting throughout my luteal phase, starting at 2dpo. Had my progesterone tested at 5dpo, and it was normal-ish at 13.6. The spotting is brown and thick. It's not a lot, but I've been wearing a tampon the last couple of days just in case it gets heavier. If I wasn't wearing a tmpon I think I would only notice it when wiping. I'm also taking progesterone supplements this month, so that could be keeping it from being heavier. I'm 8dpo now.
I had this spotting last month too, but no supplements, and got my period 6/7 dpo.
Any thoughts what could be going on?
