@mrskansas: I have some cute chunkier pieces from J Crew and B.P. Nordstrom. But I also LOVE Etsy for more interesting and less common pieces.

@mrskansas: I buy from places like Ann Taylor or Banana Republic when they have a clearance sale. I balance that with pieces from Julie Vos, Becky Kelso and David Yurman. I have bought from Stella and Dot before, and I've also found some interesting things on Etsy. I also like to browse department stores.

@pwnstar: I buy almost everything from Nordstrom so I will check there! I do need some simple necklaces to spice things up but I'm definitely not a choker/cold shoulder/crop top type, haha.

@mrskansas: I wear mostly costume jewelry (I have a couple real pieces, and I wear them and love them, but I have more fun with the costume stuff!). I buy from everywhere . . . Bauble Bar, Nordstrom, Amrita Singh, WHBM, Banana Republic, Roberta Chiarella, etc. (my favorites are BB, Nordys, and WHBM--but it really depends on your style!). I rarely, if ever, pay full price for an item . . . updated accessories are a great way to update your wardrobe and to look current without being too trendy (like mixing a few delicate necklaces/statement necklace with jeans and basic tank . . . instead of overloading on trends like pairing a choker with a lace up cold shoulder top, if that makes sense), especially if a current trend doesn't work for your body (or is just not your taste).

@pwnstar: I have to see what I can manage with that...I have a lot of single color beaded pieces. I did find a couple wooden bead/thread tassel necklaces that I layer together...I might actually buy an acid yellow or hot pink one to break up the black and gray that I currently have.

Also, I always like a fun topper, it can instantly jazz up your basics. I am eternally in the market for a trench, but this year field style jackets seem to be big.

I need to experiment with lip color!

@looch: Don't be afraid to layer your jewelry (especially necklaces - I love stacked bracelets/watches too, but I do a ton of computer work, so it doesn't work for me during the week) - it is a great way to bring in color and/or other metallics. It also makes your jewelry feel *new* again (at least it does for me!).

I needed to do this last year, and I bought some staple tees - in navy, black, grey, and light blue - and mixed and matched with colorful scarves or jewelry to liven things up. I'd usually wear them with a black or navy cardigan, in case it got chilly, and a simple black or grey skirt. In the winter, I just switch the tees for sweaters. I've been pretty happy, scarves and jewelry allow me to still feel like I can dress creatively, but having a small number of underlying staple pieces doesn't take up much space in my closet and makes things easier.

For work, I rely on either a dress or pants. I tend to like prints, I realize that they are kind of limiting in terms of being able to be reworn, so I am now focusing more on solid or colorblocked choices. Then I add some color and print with either a scarf or my jewelry. I have been working on finding mixed metal jewelry so I have greater ability to mix and match, as opposed to wearing a specific piece with a specific top.

Navy is a favorite of mine for basics, I find it fresher than black and it's season appropriate in the spring and summer, especially when mixed with white, kelly green, orange, turquoise, yellow, red...it's really versatile.

@mrskansas: oh my gosh I LOVE those last two shirts! Great choices! I've got no staples. I decided to start a capsule type wardrobe this winter and we basically ended up having 4 non-consecutive weeks of winter and now I wear the same thing every day because I have no warm weather clothes lol

I was looking through my closet yesterday and realized that I really need to update my wardrobe for spring and summer.
My office is casual so I can wear jeans, sandals, etc. I want to invest in some good, versatile pieces that I can wear a lot. In the past I've bought trendy or really specific items that I can only wear like once a month.

What are some of your staples for warmer weather that you can't live without?
