I used to get something like that (also randomly and infrequently) and they just went away at some point. Sorry that's probably not helpful! I was worried about thrush but they didn't happen frequently enough to ask a doctor and then eventually I just realized that weren't happening anymore.

Thanks for the replies! I've noticed they're very random and not very frequent. A lot of the stuff I read, people said they were very painful, but I don't feel like mine are very painful. I will definitely keep an eye on it, and on baby and call if I think it's necessary. I'm hoping it goes away, I have an appointment with a LC tomorrow, I will bing it up then :)

i had those too and it was just painful let downs/boobs becoming uncomfortably full. they didn't go away fully until I stopped bf'ing/pumping at 12 months.

I occasionally had those and it was usually if the straps on the nursing tank i was wearing were pulled too tight. So the part of the strap inside the tank, next to my boob was putting pressure on my boob and that is where the shooting pains were. Once i loosened it, they stopped.

I had vasospasms and that's what it felt like. Doctors would say it's thrush but the meds did nothing for it.

That happened to me for an entire day a week or two ago, and then just stopped. I have no idea what it was, but hopefully yours stops too.

this happens to me sometimes and usually it's just a one-off situation and then it's over. It hurts like crazy though - so much that I have to put ice on and take advil. It doesn't happen that often and I attribute it to a bad latch or something, such as if LO is teething or has a cold. If it happened more consistently I would definitely call my OB.

I would also research vasospasms and "refill pain." It could definitely be thrush, but those are two alternatives I've heard.

I get stabbing pains every now and then - have since LO was just a few days old. For me, I think it's just normal. She's almost 6 weeks and neither of us have any sign of thrush. But if that hasn't happened before and just started suddenly I think I would ask the doctor.

I had a similar problem when my son was 8 months old, but it was only happening in my nipples (mostly one in particular). Mine ended up randomly resolving itself after a few days, but I learned in that thread that sometimes the only symptom is pain....so if it continues you should definitely call you doctor!

That is kinda how Thrush felt for me. But I was able to avoid with vinegar washes. My LO never needed to be treated.

Everyone is different. But stabbing pains make me think of the painful thrush I battled. Especially if it was when I wasn't feeding. I had stabbing pains after feeding. So even though you say you don't have signs - that stabbing pain could be your sign. Don't brush it off. Do you have an LC you could see?

The past couple of days, I've noticed a shooting/stabbing pain in my breasts. It happens randomly. It's not while baby is feeding, and it's not my let down (I know what that one feels like, it's more of a stinging feeling for me).
Does anyone have any ideas? I'm praying it's not thrush. Me nor baby have any signs of thrush.
