@kiddosc: Omg That is a great idea! Thank you! I'm going to get a bucket and try that today. He would love it!

@erwoo: He's 9 months!

@2PeasinaPod: Haha, such a crazy concept!

@Pepper: Wait...LO is supposed to sit during bath? :silly:

LO hasn't sat for his bath in a long time. He's too busy trying to play with all of his toys. He's all over the place in the tub.

I'm sorry I don't have any great advice...just commiseration!

@Pepper: No advice on how to get him to sit, but could you let him soak in a bucket for his post surgery care? They make specific baby bathing buckets, but I'd assume any bucket that covers the affected area would work and then he could stand. He'd probably think it was fun.

Aaaw... How old is he? I actually LOVE that both of my boys take showers now instead of baths. My youngest started to stand around 12 months and never went back. I was so nervous at first but once I got the hang of it I loved his quick showers that I bath both of my boys together now. They seem to have more fun together anyway. And it's such a time saver too.

My LO is like this too! What I did was buy her some new bath toys to entice her to sit down...works 50% of the time...

Looks like I'm not alone with this! Silly babies, why the need to stand in the tub?!

@photojane: Gahhh it wouldn't stress me out as much if he was steady on his feet! He still needs me to hold on to at least one arm for balance. Where did my newborn go??

Yep! B keeps trying to climb out of the tub. He will be playing contently one minute and the next he's all like, "I'm done. Time to get out NOW." He doesn't cry or fuss or anything, but will pull himself up and try to climb out. It is both frustrating and hysterical.

R went through this phase too. We just told her No, we still in the bathtub. Over and over.

Now we are in the lets lay in my tummy like I am working on my back tan, complete with kicking my feet phase, and then putting my face down in the water phase. Fun times!

I started this same thread last year! haha I just think it's something all babies do. When she first started it stressed me out, and I kept trying to make her sit over and over. Then I gave up. I would just let her stand when she wanted, but hold her hand or put my arms out. Eventually it won't stress you out as much. ;)

ETA: I can't believe he's standing already!! Where has the time gone?!

No suggestions, just support ... DS has started doing this recently. Makes bathtime a challenge, but we don't have to bath him three times a day, of course. I'm sorry you're going through this. Good luck! :goodluck:

Awww, cutie pie! R likes to lock her legs sometimes...or go "whaling" other times. But she's pretty good in the bath as far as I know. DH gives her baths every morning,

E's been doing it for months. I just keep an eye on her, try to get her to sit, and basically gave up. There is no stopping her.

Anyone have a LO who went through this phase? It's making bathtime really difficult!! He refuses to sit, only wants to stand, and thinks it is hilarious when he straightens his legs and won't sit down. He literally screams with delight and jumps/bounces up and down! Little stink! It cracks me up, but I wish he'd sit! (especially since I have to help him stand).

He just had surgery and part of his recovery plan is to sit in a warm bath 3 times a day. Ha! Not working.

Any tips to get him to sit? Is this a phase you went through or are going through?
