@Bao: Well, starbucks cards are just gift cards that you can reload so I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you don't have an account, then there shouldn't be anything in their system linking your credit card or paypal to an account.

@Shizaz: DH just hung up with them and all they did was delete his email from there system. I'm sure it's nothing but I still worry re: money!

@Bao: I don't think it's a scam unless the emails are asking you to log in - especially since you said you don't have a Starbucks card to begin with. I agree with PP that someone may have used your email accidentally.

I would email Starbucks and let them know. They'd be able to verify if the emails are a scam or not too. I find that Starbucks customer service is really good. I would give that a shot.

@Bao: it just sounds like someone is transferring balances on the app? I received quite a few giftcards for the holidays and I transferred them all to my regular card so that I didn't have multiple cards on the app I use daily.
Starbucks doesn't have a credit card and they are linked securely, so I don't think you have to worry about bank accounts or credit. To me it just sounds like someone used your husbands email to register either by a typo or some sort of mistake?

I have a really simple Gmail account and I get all sorts of crazy emails about accounts I don't have. I started getting one about a kid not being in school every other week, so I called the school (in Maryland) to tell them it was the wrong email address, lol

@rachiecakes: there were 2, one was a transfer and one was an actual order.

Sounds like someone was transferring a balance on a gift card to their regular Starbucks card on their app. At least that's the email I get when someone gifts me a Starbucks gift card and I transfer the funds to the main card I use on my app.

I don't think it's a scam. Just sounds like someone put the wrong email/typo when they registered their account.

@Bao: I saw this last year. But if he doesn't have a Starbucks card or any bank accounts associated with one then I wouldn't worry about it.

http://money.cnn.com/2015/05/13/technology/hackers-starbucks-app/

ETA: Check the email address that the emails are from. I'm guessing just spam mail. When I get reload confirmations they are from orders@starbucks.com.

DH just messaged me and said that he got some emails saying $60 and $95 were successfully loaded to his Starbucks card from card (xxxx) to card (xxxx) but neither one is any of our cards or accounts, he doesn't even have a Starbucks card. I checked our accounts and nothing was taken out but we are still a little concerned...does anyone know if there is some sort of scam going around? What should we do?
