@sweetooth: I know! My husband would tell me to reward myself with a coffee from my fav coffee shop after I had dropped her off. These days the drop off is easier for me and a little harder on my dh. He's become quite the papa bear after our recent miscarriage at 9 weeks.

@mrs. eagle: Everyday I thank my husband for doing the drop-off. If I had to take my son in the morning I probably would have done just what you did with your daughter :)

The first time I was taking my dd to daycare, I never made it out my door. I couldn't bring myself to drop her off. Instead of dropping her off I ended smuggling with her in bed a majority of the day. I had my dh go with me the next day so we could do it together. It helped starting off with 1/2 days and going up from there. My dh was 6mths when she started going to daycare.

@sweetooth: So far we've mostly been doing veggies, and I got a lot of single ingredient pouches. Lately he's had carrots, squash, green beans, sweet potato and pears. I really have no idea what I'm doing with this whole food thing though, lol. I can't get him to eat more than a spoonful from me so it's hard to know when he's ok to move on to other stuff. And I have no idea how to work table foods in.

@ShootingStar: Thank you for the reminder to never send him to school with something new. We sent him to school with some food today, so we'll see how that goes. Are the pouches that you mentioned those mixtures of fruits and veggies?

@PurplePeony: I expect sad days...I think I need to frame a smiling picture of him and have it right here by my desk to remind me to smile and be strong. But you're so right - I'll feel whatever I need to feel and ease in to this new normal. Thank you for the hugs and for sharing :)

@Happygal: Day one went as well as it could. He was wailing when I picked him up but I think it was because they plucked him up from the floor where he was probably playing. It was hard to walk in and then be handed a red-faced, crying baby. But once he realized he was in my arms he began to calm down. I'm chalking it up to it being a Monday, and his first day at a new place :) // Take good care of you. Lots of rest to build up your energy and healthy eats!

Aw, hugs. I was a WRECK the first couple days and a slightly less wrecked wreck for a couple more weeks. But it does get better! Now I love seeing what new things DD is going to come home with that she learned from the other babies -- sounds, motions, etc. She is fascinated by the older babies and watches them so intently! I still have sad days now and then, but overall things have leveled out. Give yourself permission to feel however you feel and know that once this becomes your new normal, it won't feel so hard anymore!

@ShootingStar: Good to hear from you! I'm glad your little guy loves daycare. We've been having success with solids at home. I hope we're able to keep it going at daycare. Do you send him to school with food? We just did bottles today, but hope to send him with food the rest of the week.

good luck. the first few days are really hard. And then the monday of the following week because he's home with you on the weekends and thinks, maybe this was just a fluke week! so when you take him back to daycare I feel like the 2nd week is actually a little harder on the LO's. But remember ..... he will start making friends and he'll start talking about what he did in daycare and it will be so amazing to watch him bloom.

I think I cried on and off the whole first day and again on Monday the following week.

@sweetooth: Hugs! Definitely let yourself cry, but know that it gets easier! The first week or two can be hard, but babies are so adaptable. My LO loves daycare. She loves her teachers, loves the other kids, and she is really thriving there. And every day when I pick her up, she has a huge grin and crawls right over to me and into my arms. It's my favorite part of my day. :)

Hey stranger! Just wanted to offer support. DS loves his daycare and his teachers are all so incredibly nice. And he actually eats solids for them, which he refuses to do for me! He also gets tons of interaction and fun stuff to do all day, which he doesn't get as much of when he's home with us.

Hey, mama :) miss you!! I used to work in an infant class at a daycare and the babies had so much fun. It really only took a few days for the new ones to get used to it and then they thrived! It's way harder on the mamas ;) Big hugs

@sweetooth: I had my breakdown the weekend before took her. She was 3 months old. She was tired the first week, but she loved it. She gets so excited to see her other classmates and sitter. She hrs so much from seeing the other kids. It is hard, but it gets a little easier each day. You will miss home, but when you get to pick him up, it's so awesome to see their face light up when they see you!! Hugs!!!!

It's sooooo annoying, but it's also really reassuring to know that he loves it there so much!! Also, if you're at home, feel free to pick him up early on his first day! They'll totally understand and if it helps YOU transition, then do it!! I picked up Xander early his first day too!

It gets easier. He is going to have SO much fun playing with the other kids. Wait till you get art work to bring home, so adorable. And just wait till he sees you when you pick him up. That smile is the best part of my day hands down. R will be playing but she sees me and drops what she is doing and runs to me.

I have sooooo many friends (was just talking to one last night!) who have stories that go like this: it was really hard at first and now my baby loves it.

I last saw my friend the second week or so after they had started daycare. Her son had become clingy, and she was doubting her decision. I talked to her last night, and she told me that now, about 10 minutes after waking up, her son starts to ask to go bye bye and everyone is happy.

They love the interaction and socializing. It's going to be a good thing!
