Sure, why not? :) It would help with your supply too! I nursed both of my boys to sleep until I weaned them (8 months and 14 months) and they were EBF. I wasn't a huge milk producer with both of them b/c I was never able to pump more after each session but always had enough to keep them happy. I sleep trained both around 6 months and since they already knew how to self soothe so neither of them had any trouble when I weaned them.

We always nursed to sleep even now at 16 months I nurse him before naps and night. He stopped falling asleep while nursing around 5 months maybe and then I just put him down in his crib awake after he finished nursing. He puts himself to sleep fine so I have no problem nursing him before and plan to do it with my next LO too.

We nursed to sleep for all naps until one week ago (DD is 8.5 months). It's developmentally very normal. I told myself I would do it until if/when it became a problem. It started to become a problem (DD was waking up 10-20 minutes after I put her down asleep). We stopped cold turkey last week and it was an incredibly easy transition. I probably wouldn't stress about it at the moment if I were you :)

We were just there! We had the Eat Play Sleep routine down pretty well by 2 months, and then LO went into some sort of weird phase at 10 weeks and decided that Eat Play Eat/Comfort Nurse Sleep was the only way she'd nap! If it makes you feel better, we have mostly broken out of that at 14 weeks now. I think mine was going through a growth spurt, maybe that's what's happening?

My LO also would never take a paci from me but when she started daycare last week, they gave her one and now she'll take it as a substitute for comfort nursing before naps. Not sure if you're pro-paci or not (I'm not even sure how I feel about it) but you could try it.

I started around two or three months and stopped when we sleep trained at 7 mos. I did what I had to do to get him down without hours of rocking and shushing. No regrets here.

I didn't because I wasn't breastfeeding but I don't see what the big deal is...if it works, do it. When it doesn't work, you will figure it out.

Edit to add.. I reread that and it sounds b****y and I didn't mean to imply you are making a big deal out of it..I meant some of the sleep books and what not. I honestly think some of them really have it wrong. Not that I don't try to avoid bad habits..but they really do outgrow certain (most) things on their own!

@daniellemybelle: he never did when he was little, but did off and on between 8-12 months when his nap schedule changed and aligned with nursing. It's never been an issue, and we just weaned our last mid-day session without a peep or protest. If it works, do it until it doesn't work.

I just started doing it at the 4 month sleep regression. She's just too big for me to rock and rock and rock for hours anymore, and she definitely wasn't buying into the "put to bed drowsy but awake" gig.

We started nursing to sleep at 6-7 months when Miss A hit a perfect storm of crawling, wonder week and teething and we're still nursing to sleep at fifteen months :-) CIO isn't a goer for my wee girl and nursing to sleep has been a lifesaver!

I do just want to throw it out there that if nursing to sleep is working for you then ignore anybody who tells you it's a bad habit!!

We started bedtime nursing before sleep at three months. It happened sometimes before naps though too. He had ZERO trouble weaning from that and was a great sleeper at night, so we kept with it until he weaned form bfing until 12.5 months.

I started it a few weeks ago (maybe at 15 weeks?). I don't do it for every nap/night and half the time she wakes up anyways, so I'm not too worried.

I didn't start til 6 months! At that point I was worried about Los weight gain and wanted to get in more nursing sessions so I added one before each nap. We just recently broke the habit at 13.5 months.

We nursed to sleep from the start and broke the habit between 3.5 to 4 months. BUT, I know you have supply issues, and I think the long extended nursing might help tell your body to make more. I don't know that for a fact, but it makes sense in my head so I'm going with it :) So, I say why not, as long as she isn't getting to the point that she needs it to fall asleep.

LO has never really nursed to sleep. In the early days, my supply was so low, she was not interested in comfort nursing. Then I got it in my head that if I offered her the breast at naptime, there might not be enough at meal time & I'd have to supplement more, so I avoided it... Plus, I know nursing to sleep is not a great habit.

Well, here I am with my 11 week old on my boob for naptime. Usually she will go to sleep in her swing without much fuss but occasionally I miss her sleepy window & she needs to be rocked. She was hollering so I pulled out my boob & now she's drifting off.

I feel like now is the time moms usually STOP nursing to sleep, not start! But I like that she is willing to comfort nurse, and it's not like she has to every time.

Anyone else start nursing to sleep later on?
