I tested with FMU starting on CD 15/16 since I have a 34 day cycle. I tend to O later.

I am hoping to start tracking my periods and my CM for a month or two and then use that to get an idea of when to start checking OPKs.

i ususally start the first day of no spotting...so i can track when my surge begins...OB told me the most important is 24-36 before you actually get a positive because its can take up to 10 hours for the swimmers to get to their destination...which makes sense...

Thanks everyone! I appreciate all the responses. I think I should've bought more than 20! Dh already questioned what they were. Hahah! I'm determined to figure this stuff out! And I think I will for sure pick up a few digitals. :)

My cycles were 34 days or so and I Od between CD18-CD20. I usually didn't bother starting to test til CD13 or CD14 once I got over the paranoia I'd miss it. I'd usually test around 2 but 6pm when you get home should be fine - I read LH spikes between 2pm and 8pm. If you want to go all out the first month, you can use FMU and then test again when you get home so both tests will be 12 hrs apart, then you definitely won't miss it.

The first month I used them, I started on CD10 cause I had no clue when to expect. Then the next month I started at CD 12 since the 1st month I got a positive on CD16. Testing in the afternoon always worked for me.

I usually started around CD 10 and tested 2-3 times a day (which might have been excessive but it seems pretty common). I always had better luck getting a positive in the afternoon or evening than in the morning.
Also, there were a few months where I never was able to get a positive using the Wondfos but I was temping so I knew I ovulated, so don't freak out if sometimes you don't ever get a positive, I think that's pretty common too...
Like others have mentioned, it might be worth having some digitals around to confirm in case you have a 'questionable' result where you're not sure if the test line is really darker than the control...
Good luck!

This was my first month using OPKs, I had the cheapos. I started testing a week before my suspected O since it was first month. In retrospect, I could have started testing 3 days before and saved myself a lot of trouble, since I O'd exactly the day I expected. I had faint to medium lines every time I tested, but when it was positive, there was no doubting it - the line was way darker than control the day before and of O. The second day of positives I felt O cramps around 1pm. I tested morning and afternoon, but once it was positive, I got strong lines on every test. Good luck - I think the OPKs made me feel muxh more confident this month.

I typically had shorter cycles and was compulsive about OPK testing for a couple of months. I found that for me personally, I would only show the positive surge on OPKs at night and not in the morning. I could even get positive surges two nights in a row, but not during the morning in between. So if you have any doubt, I'd recommend testing with FMU and at night if you can. I also hated the "line as dark as" kind of tests and ultimately just went with digital OPKs after a couple of months of wasting $$ doubling up on tests. Good luck!

I think it's different for everyone, but I had the best luck catching my surge if I tested at noon. Last cycle, just to be sure I caught it I tested multiple times a day... on my positive opk day, I had an almost-but-not-quite-positive first thing in the morning, a definite positive at noon, and an almost-but-not-quite-positive in the evening. If I hadn't tested at mid-day, I would have never seen the true positive.

For the first month, I'd start testing around CD13, just to be safe. I'd suggest doing it when you get home, I was able to get a positive whenever I tested that late.

My cycles are about 33 days long and I start testing around day 15.

I would test in the morning and then when I got home from work.

Alrighty ladies! I've had enough wondering when I O so I bought some wondfo opks. And now I have questions! My cycles are normally 28 days but the past 2 months they've been 33 and 35 days.
When should I start testing? I'm on cd5 and af left yesterday.

What time of day should I test? I leave for work at 5:30 and get home between 8 and 9pm. I read not to use fmu but I don't think it's realistic to test at work. Will one time a day when I get home be okay? Or should I make an effort to test at work? I only work 3-4 days/week so I won't have to worry about it very often.

Tell me everything you can about opks.
Thanks ladies!
