But it's different for every baby; just keep offering and let her get used to it! He gagged a lot, but he got the concept of putting food in his mouth and eating it. I would say by 8/9 months he was consistently feeding himself and eating it.</p> <p>And yes, their poops go to a whole new level. It starts resembling more like adult poop and also smells like it. Gag. We started with bananas thinned out with breast milk - oatmeal might be too lumpy at first? We did BLW and started wth soft roasted sweet potato sticks.
