@BeachMama: That's not that much. Hmmm, i would try doing bicycle legs and tummy massages, or give her some water or juice. Maybe instead of sweet potatoes, i'd give her prunes or pears as her meal and that may help move things along.

@caffeinated - we are only giving her a tablespoon or so, do you think that's too much?

Did you slowly introduce the solids? There was one day where i gave her a little too much yams and she was backed up for a few days. She may need some liquids to get things moving, so i would try offering her some water. Does she take the sippy cup yet?

It was only when she was fussing/crying that i gave her something for the constipation issues. You can try pear or apple juice (mine refused the prune juice), and if that doesn't work, a little bit of brown sugar water. It pained me to give her something sweet, but i know it was for the best.

Pear and prunes help. Sweet potatoes and bananas actually make it worse.

My babe went through this a couple of weeks ago, when we started solids with her. WE asked the ped and she recommended a little diluted apple juice and pureed prunes. I did give her about 1 tbsp of pureed prunes 2 days in a row, and that did the trick for us. I keep prunes on hand now!

My LO was constipated for 12 days! Had a HUGE, thick, hard poop on day 12.

I started giving her Happy Babies pear pouches every day. (1 per day) and also started giving her more liquids. (she went through the constipation when she was.. 8 months old I wanna say).
So I gave her diluted apple juice and water.

Evelyn is 5 months old and our pediatrician gave us the okay last week to start solids. We did 3 days of sweet potatoes and 1 day of pear. She seems really constipated - grunting, straining, really stiff. I haven't seen a poop, but she supposedly pooped at daycare the other day, and a little one yesterday with my mom. I feel so bad because she seems so uncomfortable. Did this happen with anyone else? Any suggestions? I thought maybe the pear would help, but so far it hasn't. I'm thinking of stopping solids for a few days until her system gets moving again.
