@looch: He had his normal bm today.

@zippylef: Thanks!

@LAGS: I'm curious too! The 4 month sleep regression is strange! I didn't feed him solids today, so I guess I will see how he sleeps tonight!

How were his bowel movements the next day, did you notice a huge change? We started solids at 5 months, it didn't help the sleeping, but it didn't make it worse either.

We started right at 4 months with no issues either. It definitely could be the sleep regression/growth spurt though.

I hope tonight is better!

@calsmom: We tried some cereal for the first time last night. Her sleep was somewhat better (which isn't saying a whole lot b/c we're knee deep in the regression thing) but I'm going without tonight to see what, if any, difference there is. I wonder how they'll do!

Thank you for your responses! Our ped gave us the go ahead to start solids at 4 months in the hopes that it would help curb his spitting up. I was a bit hesitant, but decided to give it a try. It very well could just be the 4 month sleep regression. If it is digestion issues then I will hold off until 6 months. I think we will hold off on feeding him solids today just in case.

Sounds like it might be the 4 month sleep regression, which would happen with or without solids. But there's no rush to start solids.

Alternatively, the sleep might just be bad for other reasons. I haven't done any solids with Nico for almost a week, and he slept horribly 2 nights ago. It's a rough age for sleep either way.

That happened to my friend. (And the 'funny' thing is that she decided to start the food to potentially cure her baby's night-waing issue......and it only got worse). Baby was not ready and must have been getting crampy or something at night. She had been giving rice cereal. I think she stopped for a week and then started again with vegetables instead.

We waited until 6 months based on the APA recommendations and our pediatricians recommendations. I don't really remember DS having sleep issues when we started solids, but I may just not be recalling it. He's a relatively good sleeper with bumps here and there.

We started to feed our 4 month old son solids yesterday. We started with a small amount of banana, which he loves! I know that starting solids may hinder sleep at night, but I'm not.cleqr if it is normal or a sign that a baby isn't quite ready for them. That is exactly what happened last night....he didn't sleep so great. He normally sleeps all night, but woke up every hour or two last night. I felt so bad, and was wondering if we may have started solids too soon? I will be asking our ped tomorrow at his 4 month appt, but I would love to hear the feedback from the ladies here. :)

Thank you all!
