@smurfette: Good luck! We really haven't done much with solids yet except for some oatmeal which DS did NOT like. I tried to make my own sweet potato puree tonight and my food processor broke! I hope that's not some sign from the universe.

@MsLipGloss: I have those munchkin spoons too! I guess you're not suppose to sterilize them. I didn't know and threw them in a Medela steam bag when I first got them and they got all warped. I only have two good ones out of the bunch. :(

Thanks everyone! I wrote everything down in my phone, so whenever I hit up BRU, I will be prepared.

We have a high chair, just in the box still.

@LaineysMom: LO loves her highchair! We have the OXO Tot Sprout. We started out with a booster seat, but LO much prefers her new highchair. (I also don't mind that it looks great in our dining room!)

@Smurfette: we use earths best purees and earths best and plum pouches. I didn't start using the pouches until recently bc DD wouldn't finish them in 1 day and I hate throwing them out.. So expensive! I bought a bunch of EB purees at the beginning of the year from BRU for 50 cents each. Check ther ads, they periodically have sales on food and pouches.

As for other supplies, I really like the beaba spoons. They're much shallower and softer than the munchkin ones. We use the munchkin silicone feeding cups and oxo Tupperware since DD still doesn't finish an entire jar of food. My fave bibs are the A&A ones that go all the way around her (looks like a poncho).. They protect her clothes best. Last, get a good Highchair! Feeding her before we got our highchair was such a pain!

@MsLipGloss: I usually just squirt the puree from the pouch onto a spoon, but I suppose I could try just giving him the pouch and seeing how he does with it!

we have 4 bamboo spoons and bumkins bibs that we can wipe down instead of having to put through the washing machine. we have skip hop cups, bowls and plates but we haven't used them yet! i've been making my own purees (just the single ingredient ones and one mix that i got the idea from a pouch!) but i have liked the plum organic pouches. we got them on sale from BRU to try them out for our camping trip we're going on.

also, i picked up a kidsme silicone pouch and that's really fun for R! i put in plums and she loved it. that could be a good option for you too!

We used OXO bowls, plates and spoons and were happy with all of them, and went with either Earths Best or Gerber Organics for purées. We just loaded up whenever we found a decent sale. Other than getting the bibs that can easily be wiped clean, I don't think there are big must-haves here. More often than not, we fed LO directly from the container.

I have used both Gerber purees and Earth's Best purees. I go organic when I can (some combos are not always available in organic). I don't use many bowls (for purees), I use different kinds of bibs (everything from A+A to BRU brand, but really, a bib is a bib to me, and I don't always use one) but I do use these spoons (Soft Tip Infant Spoons by Munchkin), and I have a dozen.

I have been using ramekins that we already own, I didn't want to buy bowls just to buy them! I bought spoons at Target, and get Ella's Kitchen, Earths Best, Gerber Organic, or Plum purees. I WOH and solo parents a few nights a week so no home made stuff here either. I actually really like the pouches since you can squeeze them right onto a spoon, no bowl needed = less dishes and a happy mama.

DS is 7 months and not really liking solids so I am definitely no expert. Good luck!! :)

I am starting to do research and need to start buying supplies for starting solids next month. Side note, where is the time going.

I don't have time with solo parenting and working to make my own purees.

What purees do you use? Where do you find the best price? What spoons, bowls, and bibs are the best?
