@pastemoo: It's all I've known, so hard to say! I don't pre-soak the diapers. They just get tossed into the 'wetbag', which should really be called a dry bag, and then when it's wash time they all go in the wash with the bag and I do pre-rinse cold, wash hot, rinse cold and extra rinse. The extra rinse might not be needed since we use Rockin Green but I play on the safe side.

Hubs and I just went to a CD workshop yesterday so we could learn about CDing and get our hands on the various types and stuff. It was great and we learned A TON. The instructor told us to just get a cheap kitchen-size trash can ($15 at Target) and put the wet bag in there.

I have a diaper pail for the disposables, because it takes a long time to fill a bag for trash (we pay by the bag, not a flat fee for the service).

I put the cloth in a pail of water, but I always rinse first, even if it is just pee.

We have one step trash can (cheap from Target) that we use in the nursery. We don't have anything separate for disposables. We only use 1/day, so it's easy to just take it to the trash can.

@pastemoo: If you are happy with your system it is probably fine. The wet bags work great for us and mean we don't need a pail or water to change out.

I technically have 4 wet bags, 2 larges and 2 mediums. The larges switch out on laundry day and the little ones go to daycare. When the little ones come home, I spray out the poop diapers and then just put them back in the bag until laundry day. Other poopy diapers at home get added to the little bags that stay in the bathroom next to LO's room. That is probably more than you wanted to know...

We have two diaper pails. We have a cheap one with cloth liners by the changing table to throw diapers and cloth wipes in. Then we have a diaper genie in the bathroom that we take the poop to, since we use liners to scoop up the poo and disposable wipes with poo. We have to be careful and keep it all contained or the dog will try to eat it.

We just use a cheap stainless steel garbage can with a pedal operated lid, we got it from Target I think, on sale for about 30 bucks. Then we use the large wetbags as the diaper liners. make sure you have more than one, for when you are doing a load of diapers (you have to wash the wet bag also).
Poopy diapers, I just rinse off quick in the bathroom, then throw it in with the rest (bathroom is right near DS's room).
No issues with smell so far

@cvbee: @Mrs. Superhero: @MamaCate: How good is a wetbag? I don't even have one! I just put the diapers in a pail of water.... is the wetbag easier?

I find with EBF diapers I don't even need to close the wet bag. Doesn't smell.

I have two large wet bags (so that we can have one in the wash) and two small wet bags. The big one goes in her room and the small one in the bathroom for poopy diapers. No pails. We use Rockin Green's shaker thing for the poopy diaper bag so it doesn't smell.

I think you'll probably need something with a lid. Or you could maybe use one of your larger wet bags until you can switch over? We have just a mini trashcan for the occasional disposable/wipe.

So we're transitioning to cloth, which will probably be part time at the beginning. Do I get a second pail for the CDs? Or just use my planet wise pail liner without a bin until we complete the switch?

Would love any tips from those who do both or did a slow transition.... thanks!!
