I have a feeling that's where we're headed, Mrs. Jacks!! Because I had my kids so close, I've been nursing or pregnant or nursing & pregnant for 3 years, and although I love it I am getting tired... Oh well, we'll make it through!

My super picky nurser didn't wean til age 2. She was a total boob girl. We started making a rule at about 15 months that she would never get to nurse except after work. Then we spaced it to after dinner, then just before bed. Then we started dropping that as well. She still asks for it some nights!

Thanks Chopsuey119! I didn't have this issue with my first one, since he had to have a bottle when I went back to work. I got pregnant with #2 when my first was 6 months, and he selfweaned pretty much right at a year old.

I wouldn't mind if this one nursed past that, but I thought he would slow down as he started to eat solids... It seems like he's ramping up!! i would love for him to drink a little bit of water/etc to help with some constipation issues... And, to be honest, I would like my nights back!! Mama needs some sleep!

Anyway... Thanks for the suggestion of the Zoli - that's actually one we don't have, so I'll look for that!

My LO was the same way..! I introduced a Zoli cup at 11 months and she loved it! It seriously saved my life. Unfortunately she only wanted boob all day and at least 2-3x at night too until I got pregnant again (a few days after she turned 1). She's almost 16 months old and I've pretty much completely dried up, but she still comfort nurses 2x a day :T

If your LO is eating solids well, I would start off by taking away one nursing session during the day at a time. Oh! Once my milk started drying up, LO miraculously started taking a bottle again. :P I know giving a toddler a bottle is a no no, but it gets her to drink her milk and helps her sleep through the night and nap really well.

Sorry I wasn't much help, but it'll get better soon! And hope he lets you sleep through the night..!

Anyone had any advice/experience or even just commiseration about starting to wean an exclusively bf baby?

I'm happy that he's such a great nurser, but he also has refused any pacifier, any bottle, and any sippy/straw cup (and we now have quite a collection of each of them).

He is a great solids eater (3 meals a day + snacks), but still wants to nurse 7-9 times a day (2-3 of those times during the night) at 11 months old... Quite honestly, I wouldn't mind getting my nighttimes back!

So... Anyone else dealt with this? Words of advice or sympathy?
