do whatever is going to be less stressful for you!

If you want to use exclusively breastmilk, could your work pay for shipping costs? since there are no time limits on women's right to pump at work, perhaps this could be see as part of providing a nursing mother the appropriate accommodation? Just a thought. My boss had to travel when her son was 5 months and had the firm pay for cost. I have a trip coming up when LO will be 7 mo and I will probably ask for the same accomodation.

I was in the same situation and I frantically pumped at every opportunity. It sucked and I wish I would have just relaxed and gotten some formula. DH and I are going on vacation without LO in a few weeks and I have already bought formula for it! Don't stress yourself out when you don't need to!

If you don't want to do formula, any chance your husband and baby could travel with you? That's what I'm doing for an upcoming work trip. And we're making a little vacation out of it.

My friend had this issue for a trip when her son was 9m so she added a few oz of formula to the bottles when she was away. It was nice to take the pressure off!

I second buying formula and not stressing. I had to with LO because my supply dropped for no reason. She has no issues with it and drinks them both interchangeably. (I EP, so it didn't hurt my supply further to supplement.) I'd just try it out before you go in case your LO doesn't like it and you need to try a different brand.

I would buy formula and not stress. I freaked when I was 20 oz short when DD2 was 4 months and pumped enough to make the difference but it was a huge pain, she woke up a bunch more and it was stressful. I had some samples in case she needed it but we made it by the skin of our teeth.

Could you start to introduce cows milk now and use it to fill in the gaps when you go? How many oz do you think you'll be short per day? (I suck at math)

In Canada the recommendation is to start cows milk at 9months (not sure what the US rec is). Not that there's anything wrong with formula (I'm a formula feeder myself) but since he will be starting cows milk soon anyway I would probably just introduce it now ?

I have a business trip coming up the 25th-27th. DS is 10 months, BF, and eats solids well. I have almost no stash. I'm just now realizing that there's no way I can pump enough extra milk in 9 days for a 3 day trip. I'm guessing I can add two pump sessions and get 3-4oz per day more total. That's only about 30 fl oz.

I've been sending 10 oz to daycare every day. I'm thinking about sending 8oz next week and stashing the extra 10oz.

Combined that's only about half of what I need.

After doing the math and writing this out I think it's time to buy some formula. Unless anyone sees a better way?

I could ship day 1 milk from the trip to arrive for the second half but it's so spendy.
