I would go. Traveling sucks no matter what, but it sounds like you'll have a lot to do that week and would be worth it in my opnion!

I'm glad you decided to go. It will be an adventure. I'd probably only buy 3 tickets, but if you can swing it, 4 will make it easier.

Ok we have decided to go! You only live once and even if traveling is hell, we will recover.

Thanks for the input everyone

We would go! DH and I are all about traveling whenever we can-- just because we have child(ren) doesn't mean we shouldn't live life!

I would go, but only buy 3 plane tickets. Short time of travel annoyances for a lot of fun :)

(But DH and I are suckers for punishment apparently... we're flying with two lap children in December  )

The cost would be my only deciding factor. I tend to play it pretty loose when it comes to traveling with children and don't really think of logistics as an obstacle.

for us, the only thing that would stop me would be the cost. if it isn't a huge factor, you should totally go! :) it will be so fun, you'll get to see your family and friends, and if dh is flying with you and the kids, you guys will be just fine :)

@Mamaof2: DH says to not worry about the cost (because we are paying for worthwhile experiences), but if a big unexpected expense comes up (new water heater or car repairs), I am sure to hear about how we just spend spend spend.

The cost of the trip bothers me less than the fact that DS1 will miss three weeks of school but we still have to pay for the time

I voted go but changed my mind - the cost for me would actually prevent me from going - 4 plane tickets now and again in April - ouch!

I feel like the annoyance of all the cons outweight the pros, esp if you'll be going in April anyway so LOs can still meet everyone they need to meet, and see/do things...

The wedding was originally taking place in early October but we kept waiting for them to confirm the date, and then they changed it last minute.

When we thought it would be in October, I had decided not to go, because it was too soon after DS1 starting preschool and potty training.

So should another month make a huge difference?

One of DH's best friends is getting married in NYC in early November (they only just confirmed the date yesterday). All of our family and most of our friends are in NYC because we moved out west 2 years ago. I am trying to decide whether we should take the kids and stay for a week or just let DH go alone for 3 nights. We plan to go to NYC and Toronto for two weeks in April.

PROS:
1. My dad and little sister havent met DS2 (will be 6 months)
2. I want to dress up and go to a wedding after being a SAHM in sweats for two years
3. My toddler (will be 31 months) will have fun and see relatives
4. If I don't go, I will be home alone with both while DH is gone 3 nights for the wedding and a weekend for the bachelor party in October
4. We have few close friends left in NYC who are unmarried, so there will be few events in the future that will draw us home

CONS:
1. Cross country flights with a 6 month old and 31 month old (will buy plane seats for both)
2. Toddler will have been in preschool for 2 months, so a vacation can be a disruption after finally getting used to it
3. Toddler will be newly potty trained (slowly working on it now) so trip can be a set back or disaster
4. Jet lag for all, especially after we return home
5. I have not pumped but will need to for someone to watch the baby during the wedding, and hope baby will take a bottle
6. Navigating airport and rental car pickup/drop off with toddler, baby, 2 carseats, snap n go, 2 heavy suitcases to check, plus carryon bags
7. Cost of 4 tickets and renting an apartment for a week, and then doing it again in April (DH says not to worry about the money but i do anyway)
