Sage extract and no more milk tea are supposed to help dry up. Good luck!

thank you all for the kind words and support! I've been kinda emotional drying up my milk (sitting here with cabbage leaves stuck down my sports bra right now!😜😜) it was really hard to decide to let go of breastfeeding 😥 so it's a relief to hear some of you went through something similar and I'm not alone! the engorgment is insane though, I'm trying not to pump until every 5-6 hours. has anyone tried the sudafed with success? any other remedies?

We lived with my parents after LO was born and there were several nights that my mom took a night feeding. It saved us! I was breastfeeding but we supplemented, so my mom would either bring LO to me in bed or feed her a bottle and I would pump in bed. She would put my milk up and wash the parts and everything. Either way it was a lot easier than getting up with a newborn when I was recovering from a C-section.

@paigeface: Good for you! I think it's wonderful that you have the support system that allows you to get some much-needed rest! Of course it's ok to do! I would definitely take advantage of it whenever you can.
And about the breastfeeding/formula thing: yeah, I didn't enjoy it much at all either. You're 100% right when you say that your son deserves a happy mom, and if bf only stressed you out, then stopping was totally the right decision!

@paigeface: I went through something similar and I decided to switch to all fomul pretty quickly. I used cold compresses in my bra, took sudafed (from behind the pharmacy so the stronger kind) and it died up pretty quick.

@paigeface: I am 11 weeks in and doing both formula and breastfeeding. It has been incredibly difficult and I have dealt with a lot of guilt myself. I was pretty crushed when I realized that my baby was not great at it- she just doesn't transfer milk well and has not had good weight gain without formula. It took a while to accept that things would look differently than I expected when it came to feeding her. I still have no idea how long breastfeeding will work out, but I am open to switching over completely if it becomes the best for us.

Just remember you aren't alone! You are strong for being honest with yourself about what works/what doesn't- so be proud of yourself for doing what is best for you and your family :)

ETA- The cabbage leaves are great, right? Just make sure you get all the pieces off your boobs afterwards... ha! Definitely freaked my husband out with that remedy. :silly:

@paigeface: Breastfeeding is definitely not for everyone. I didn't like it all and also quit around 2 weeks. It definitely was a weight off of me!

Take the night help! Moms are the best at that! Enjoy the sleep!

@paigeface: good for you for making the choice that's right for you! The pain will lessen in the days to come. There is a tea called no more milk on the market. I am not sure how well it works or how it tastes. Some people swear by sudafed to dry up. Enjoy your sleep!

thanks so much guys! :) we are totally doing it! I feel such a weight lifted since we haven't slept a wink at all pretty much. my mom is so excited! LOL I actually have decided to do all formula and finish up with my expressed breastmilk that I have pumped until it runs out. the engorgement is awful so I'm just pumping to relieve pain here and there. cabbage leaves are shoved in my bra right now.... Although I carry guilt, breastfeeding was not for me. It made me extremely depressed and was a mess. I want to be a happy mommy for my son. that's so much more important to me. did anyone else deal with this?

Do it! If you FF hand the babe off to grandma and enjoy some extra sleep! If you are pumping just be sure not to miss the pump session. Have fun!

I agree with @regberadaisy

I think I recall you were pumping- so since your supply is still developing I would say it's important to still pump at least once... or twice depending on how long your night will be :) One night may not hurt you but you'll definitely be dealing with engorgement in the AM!

Um yes!!!! Someone willing to wake up in the motn for you? I assume you mean formula by bottle feed? If you don't then you might want to wake up to pump....

Hi everyone!
quick question, may be silly but fiancée and I are staying the night at my parents house with LO and he's only 2 weeks. They live 45 mins away from us so it's much easier and my mom is amazing with the babe and can take a shift or two so we can get sleep (we are bottle feeding) is this ok to do? we will be there all night. Thank you!
