@citymouse: I don't have any problems with the hole on the Ubbi . . . and yeah, the smell is totally contained!

ETA: When at all possible, I flush the solid poop, even though LO wears sposis.

A good trick (especially when they start eating solids) is putting all the poopy diapers inside disposable plastic contains (like for the freezer) before throwing them away. It really is a lifesaver during the summer months when it doesn't matter what set-up you have, it'll get funky quick.

@citymouse: gotcha! i think the hole could be bigger, but i always dunked/rinsed my dirty cloth diapers so there wasn't much of a "mess" to get on me... but i could see how if you don't do that how it could be a problem. hope that helps! :)

We use a simplehuman can with one of those Arm&Hammer sticky deodorizers in it.

we just use a regular small steel lidded can, with the foot pedal. smells are contained. Though we do have to give the can a good washing and spraying every so often- and i do think the interior of the can has an off odor.....We do cloth diaper 75% of time- so don't know if that keeps smells down. but dirty wipes and plenty of dirty disposables go in there too.

We mostly did cloth at home, but threw out disposables in our kitchen garbage. We had a simplehuman step can. It did do a good job keeping the smells in, but when you open it it smelled pretty bad! We compost so we don't throw out much food garbage either.

@jmarionsmith: Im asking because I just read on another thread about how the hole for the Ubbi is too small. :-/ She ends up getting her hands dirty and the pail dirty trying to push cloth diapers through the hole, which defeats the purpose. So, just trying to gather some info because I thought I was set for the the Ubbi to be the best option!

we have the ubbi diaper pail and it really does keep the smell contained. but when you open it, whoa is it foul! haha. once its closed though, we don't smell anything.

eta: i should read more clearly. sorry i didn't see the "trash can" part. ours is specifically for diapers, so i don't know if that helps...
