Like, he is on my top five list. There are too many possibilities to even speculate. I think The Colbert Report is perfect and I would have been happy if it was on the air for the rest of my life. He has a very specific character and scthick on CR, and I like that character and think he does it very well and am not sure he's the right person for a more general comedy show. And I agree with @MrsPastryLady: it would have been way cooler (and groundbreaking!) to have a woman replace him!
