I am 17 weeks pp . . . I bled for 8 weeks and spotted for 1. I also had a bleeding and cramping when I started walking (around 4.5 weeks pp), and at my 6 week checkup my Doc told me I had done too much too soon, and to slow it down.

I remember my stitches feeling very similar to yours (a coarse thread-like feeling), and sometimes when I move in certain ways, I still feel that *pulling* feeling (like when I am sitting cross-legged and I scoot myself backward on the bed). But the pulling feeling was greatly reduced when I got my stitches out at 6 weeks.

I can't remember when we had sex again - 8 weeks pp? It was uncomfortable, but not painful.

I had same tear, but I only bled 2 weeks. Not sure when stitches were gone but def by my 6 wk appt! OB cleared me for sex at that appt but we didn't try til over 12 weeks and even then (and since) it's just a measure in stretching, not actually sex. I got my period 7weeks pp (ebf!) and regularly since! I tried a tampon during my second period (12 weeks?) and it killed. I used a tampon this week (16 weeks pp today) and it hurt :/

I had a second degree tear. I bled heavily for about two weeks, then had spotting until about 13 weeks pp. My stitches were still visible at 4 weeks. I elected to go in for a check-up at 8 weeks instead of 6 weeks. I think there were a couple of stitches left, but the bigger issue was that when the physician's assistant did the internal exam, I had a burning sensation. She saw a few drops of blood, so she had me come back in another month to check. (My OB wasn't there that day to give a second look,)

At 13 weeks, my OB came in to check and discovered I had a granuloma. She put some silver nitrate on it, then had me come back ten days later to make sure she got it all. There was a little bit of the tissue left. I should be good to go for sex at 16 weeks.

I had a third degree tear and had the same issue, it was painful. As far as sex, I was 11 weeks PP before we even attempted since I was still in so much pain.

If I were you I'd walk less and see if bleeding subsides and check with your doctor . I did too much postpartum and had to have emergency surgery to repair and redo stitches. Not fun !! At 6 weeks and 4 weeks from second surgery it's just starting to hurt less and they seem to be dissolving completely. Hope you feel better soon!

2nd degree tear + episiotomy. Wasn't cleared for sex until 8 weeks, tried and failed at 10 weeks, successfully managed at 12, didn't feel good until 16 or so (22 now and it's better than pre-pregnancy).

Mine felt like fishing wire too, but I think they'd dissolved by 6w. I still had some damage at my 6w appt though. I bled for 4w, then it stopped for about a week and started up again for another week or two. It was over by 7w.

And yeah, totally hate pads...feels like diapers.

Hang in there, it will get better!

I didn't start feeling better down there until just before my 6 week check up. There was no action down there for at least another month after the appointment either! I was not ready at 6 weeks and still had a tiny bit of healing to do, but after that things were better than ever!

I'm only 2 weeks pp, but I feel you on the hurting! Ever so often I'll move just right and it'll seriously hurt. I can feel the stitches and pulling.

Sorry to hear you're still not back to normal yet! I think only your doctor (after an exam) can really answer your questions better. But I wanted to say that tampon use is usually not recommended til after the 6 week checkup and your doctor clears you for that. Hope you feel better soon.

I had a 2nd degree tear, too, and bled for 8 weeks and spotted until 15 weeks. I was given the ok for sex at my 6 week appt but didn't feel comfortable until at LEAST ten. Hope you have a better recovery than I did!

I was in the same situation with 2 degree tear,, Dr told me at my 6 week follow up that I needed to take it easy for another 2 weeks since stitches still hadn't fully dissolved :( I also EBF at the time and the bleeding would stop and start until 8 weeks PP when I was put on the mini pill.

I agree that pp recovery sucks!!! I told my husband that pregnancy and labor was cake compared to the recovery.

I am 5 weeks postpartum and still having a fair amount of pain from my stitches (2nd degree perineal tear). My stitches have not yet completely dissolved. There are 1-2 exterior stitches remaining that poke me from time to time and then a mess of them that are more internal that bother me as well. When I press on that area, I can feel the stitches inside. :( The "thread" that was used was a thick plastic, like fishing line... is that normal?!

How long did it take for your stitches to dissolve? If you looked at them/felt them, what were they made of?

It's not that bad, but if I sit the wrong way, the stitches poke or I feel pulling in that area. I can't imaine having sex in a week, even though I really miss it! Boo! :( How long did you take before having sex again?

Also, I am still having bleeding every day, often bright red. The past few days it's been heavier and I've noticed some slight cramping... I'm wondering if that's because I've been walking a lot or if it's AF making a return (I'm EBF)? When can I start using tampons?! I hate pads with a passion!

So sick of this! Ready to get out of pads and back in the gym...

I see the doctor for my 6 wk check up on Monday... I guess I'll see what he says.
