LO doesn't have too early of a bedtime, but we still have nights where we are out later than her bedtime. We're just flexible with it. Sometimes she'll fall asleep in the car. Sometimes she's just awake a half hour later then normal. It's not every night, we try not to do it too often..... it doesn't seem to bother her.

We either do early dinners or don't make plans for that time. If I want to go out later, I don't bring the LO. DH and I switch on and off putting her to bed and the other person goes out.

LO's bedtime is 8, so we can do things earlier if needed. Now we just make plans for the middle of the day, or we try to do things at people's houses (most of our friends have kids) so that we can put LO down there. She does well transferring to the carseat and then to bed.

Baby X's bedtime is 7, give or take 30 mins depending on his naps/moods/teething/etc. We host gatherings of friends/family when possible, we plan for brunches out instead of dinners or plan for early dinners (5pm, 5:30 at latest). When the friends plans are going out or hanging out at someone's house, we opt for going to someone's house because sometimes we can get away with putting him down for bed in their guest room until it's time to go home. (We do this rarely though.) And we trade out-- sometimes one of us will go out with friends while the other one stays home with the baby.

LO goes down at exactly 7PM now. Although I love how predictable her bedtime is, it does make it very difficult for us to get out or do anything since we have to get home by 6PM so we can get her bedtime routine started by 630PM.

Those of you mamas w/early bedtime babies - how do you manage dinners out/visits with friends? Do you just rush to get home by a certain hour and don't make evening plans?
