She definitely does it intentionally, most of the time for exploration, and sometimes for limit testing like @foodnerd81 said above (usually when I tell her not to do it). With her it never really stopped nor does it amplify or decrease around certain times. It's just her thing, it seems.

My LO is also 2 and has just restarted putting lots of stuff in her mouth. Since she had stopped for a while, I think it's either teething (loads of drool too) or limit testing. Like I will say, don't put that in your mouth, so then she looks at me smiling and puts it up to her mouth and pauses for a second to see my reaction. It's pretty annoying because I thought we were out of that phase!

Hmmm... maybe it's just a habit? My 2 year old doesn't do that at all anymore, but he did still try to put fake food in his mouth to pretend until I taught him how to pretend eat without putting it in his mouth. But he doesn't do it with everything. Does she look like she does it absent-mindedly, (like someone might chew on their nails?) or like she is trying to explore it with her mouth the way a baby does?

My 27 month old will not stop shoving anything and everything in her mouth. It doesn't appear to be teething related because it is pretty much nonstop. She started early - around 4 months - and hasn't stopped since. To the point where I worry about leaving her alone with anything smaller than her fist. Is this normal or could there be some kind of issue I'm missing? She doesn't have any issues with eating or any sensory problems, and I really thought this would stop by now.
