My stupid insurance won't cover it after they said they would. My policy did renew in January. I should get the Omsbudman service my company hired on the insurance company. Right now I'm paying for a Medela Symphony rental for work. It's $65 a month but works better than the Amenda Purely Yours my sister gave me. I bought new parts and had the Purely yours checked for suction at the hospital. Ugh I feel your pain Highwire. My LO was born in January. I even met my dedcutible so it should be free.

Bummer! I had to wait 3 months for my pump from my insurance due to the DME provider changing their ordering system and requirements shortly after I placed my order, which eventually meant I had to reorder my pump and send lots of angry emails.

Do you know if any of the spare Medela parts work with the Ameda pump? I have a Hygeia pump and many of the parts from a Medela pump work with both.

Anyway, good luck! I hope you get your pump soon!

@regberadaisy: The parts are all used! I don't think anyone would want them :)

Glad to hear you are happy with your Ameda! I figure three more weeks isn't that big of a difference at this point and we already paid for the rental this month. If they send it to me in July, great, if not, I'll get the Ameda. At least I know my bottles would work with it just fine.

That's so annoying. I still don't know what I get through my insurance-- it renewed in Jan, but when I called I got a really convoluted response early in the year, so I'm planning to call again now that it's almost baby time and they have had a few months to work it out. But I have my sister's pump, so if they will only give me a manual I'm still OK.

@highwire: can you return or sell your Medela spare parts? I used a Ameda and really liked it.

@regberadaisy: "This pump has been on back order with the manufacturer and Medela has updated us that it will not be available until approximately July 1, 2013.
This is the only Medela model pump being offered through your insurance provider."

I don't expect a comp since there are other options. They would send me the Ameda Purely Yours which they do have in stock, but I have so many spare parts for the Medela I am holding out to get one that I can use all of my parts with.

wow! What's their explanation for the delay? Are they going to comp you for the rental expense?

Oh no - what a pain! It really sucks that you've been having to rent a pump all this time :(

I can feel a little bit of your pain. My LOs were born in January and after being told incorrect information multiple times by my insurance company and a claim, many many phone calls and two appeals, I JUST received my reimbursement for the breast pump I payed for out of pocket (which was how I was originally told to buy it that way and submit for reimbursement).

Hopefully it comes soon!

My LO was born in November 2012. My health plan was not up for renewal until May 2013 which would be the first time I was eligible for a free breast pump. I put my order in for a breast pump in May. They told me the pump would not be available until June. I just got another notification that it is now delayed again until July. Le sigh. My kid is over 6 months old already and would love to be able to either have two pumps for work and home or return this expensive hospital grade pump we've been renting all this time!
