@fussygal: I did not know there are half size PNP. I registered for a RNP, but do you just put it on the ground? Could you post a link to the half size PNP? @looch I am not, but that's rad it's an option.

@youboots: are you getting a stoller with a basinette attachment? If so, you can also get a stand for it.

@youboots: We used a travel sized pack n play. It's about half the size of a regular one. We also heavily used our RnP for night time sleep. I do love the modern look of the Chicco bassinet though!

@looch: yeah, I wanted to get something that was not too expensive in case it is short lived.@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: love these ideas! The last one I have on my Amazon wish list, I'm waiting until I make a decision to put it on my registry.@Greentea: I already have the Sleepi crib and loooove it! But I want to put baby down for naps in their actual bedroom and the doorways are too narrow to roll from room to room so I need something small and temporary for our bedroom.

@regberadaisy: so did they sleep on your bed with you? @ree723 normally I would be happy to use a pack and play but due to how our master is set up there is not enough space next to my side of the bed.

@youboots: I remember reading about the product a couple years ago. The description back then definitely said it was suitable for newborn-3 mos to use as a bassinet.

Here's some online pics I found with the Stokke bouncer attachment.

With your modern aesthetic, how about Dream bassinet?
http://www.babyhome.es/us/en/products/dream

Or Babyletto's Bowery bassinet? http://www.allmodern.com/babyletto-Bowery-Bassinet-MIR1123.html

ETA: this budget friendly modern bassinet from Chicco http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KHR84YK/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_1?pf_rd_p=1944687682&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B0072AG8R0&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0MVGBQHNMMDKCNJGRXVV

Hmmm, when my son was little and swaddled, we used a basinette with soft sides similar to that. It was very shortlived though, I think we only used it for 6 weeks at the most.

Hmm, I probably wouldn't feel comfortable using that with a newborn - it may be personal preference but I don't like using beds for babies that have closed sides. I feel like the more air that can flow through, the better for them. Also, as @wonderstruck: said, I liked being able to see them through the side of the cot at any time, whereas with this one, you'd have to actually get up to look into the cot.

We used a PnP with the bassinet insert for both of our girls for the first several months, only removing the bassinet insert once they were sitting up at around 5/6 months. We kept it in our room next to our bed for 8 months and 9 months respectively and loved it. We had the Fisher Price Luv U Zoo 3 in 1 travel cot but obviously did not keep the changing table on it whilst they were in there (in fact we never used the changing table attachment but that's beside the point).

@youboots: I used a Rock n Play and just angled it so he was facing me in the bed...which didn't last long due to my noise sleeper, haha, but I was a paranoid mama for the first couple of weeks!

I see the picture says it has air ventilation; it's just hard to see how that's possible. Then again, I've never seen it in person.

I can't see myself using it due to the solid sides - seems like it could be a suffocation risk, and when my little ones are brand new I like being able to just look over and see them. This would make me paranoid, I feel like I'd constantly want to get up and go check on them.

Hi all!

A local consingment shop has this daybed for sale for a great price. It has an attachment to make it a bouncer but it looks like the whole setup is discontinued. Online Stokkes recommendation is that the daybed alone does not meet standards for safety for overnight sleep- but the add on does? How is something ok for daytime napping and not for evening sleep? I would like to use this in out bedroom for the first few months, but don't know if I can find/want the bouncer. Any advice?
