I accidentally left a backpack sitting on a bench at SFO and the airport police had picked it up. Inside was $1000+ of camera equipment and electronics. I was devastated and was so relieved when the police called me. We were flying up for a wedding and when we got there my luggage never came. They said that it would probably show up, but it never did. I don't think bags just go missing forever like that- I had my name all over it. At least in my case it was their fault so they paid for it. Take heart though, you never know, it might just come back to you. DH and I were in China (where we met actually) and he put his backpack down in Tianamen Square to take a picture. Once he was done, he hopped back on his bike and rode away, leaving his backpack on the ground in the square. In that backpack were his passport, the copies of his passport, iPod, all of his money, and hotel keys. He didn't realise he'd forgotten it until twenty minutes later but by the time he got back it was gone. </p> <p>He went to the tourist police and spent hours there trying to sort this out but got nowhere. Several hours later, he came back to the hotel, only to have the clerk wave him down and hand over his backpack. Apparently someone found it, went through it, found the hotel key, figured out where the hotel was (it was an obscure hotel on a tiny little lane), and returned it with everything inside, minus the equivalent of about $50 Aussie dollars. There are definitely good people out there and I'll cross my fingers it turns up. But if not, I'm sending big hugs your way. It was mostly going well until we went to get our rental car. DH set his backpack down in the parking garage to load the car. Well two hours later we realize he left it there. We didn't get in until midnight. He went back to look for it and its totally gone. Our keys, iPad and brand new ergo. All gone. Wahhhh. I'm totally bummed and can't sleep and its almost 5 am. We had plans to go to the aquarium but I doubt we will now because DH didn't get back to the hotel until 4 am. </p> <p>I hope our trip gets better. </p> <p>Have you ever lost or had anything stolen at the airport.
